Dome protection unit . . .
All day long for over a 17 months now, the monstrous road train lunges forward. An AI robot, 27 miles long on a straight and well paved country road, that can shapeshift to fit anywhere. It’s more a traveling factory. It can swim, fly, walk or roll. An “everything machine” spawned from a slice of the AI that runs everything else.
Today it finds the happy little suburban development where the Carsons live. The ironically named “Deer River Park” as no such things have inhabited this piece of land for decades.
Today it will see a new life form though. The most invasive species ever known. A machine that can make all other machines. The ultimate problem solver.
Its about to solve the Carsons’ problems.
The noise of it.
They feel it in their feet for days. It puts a thunder in the ground. The slowly pulsating mechanical heart of it gets closer and closer.
A voice. Slightly discernable now, but the Carsons know what it says without hearing it fully yet.
In the middle of the day it arrives.
The voice now loud and overwhelming. It penetrates as if implanted directly. Earplugs do nothing. The voice is modulated to induce euphoria in most people but some try to fight and suffer.
