Commander Peep Harrington’s mouth hurt for smiling so much. His eyes were still recovering from the pictures taken on the Press Conference. He put the seat belt on, glad that he could finally sit.

His charisma, wit and intelligence were quick to conquer the legislators’ minds and in no time he became the city’s new Hoppy Windy, the great pop-star (even Eldnari knows her catchy songs). All it took for him to become such a legend in Nova was a Myf artifact dealer and an uncle in the senate, plus money: loads of it.

As Commander Peep pressed and twisted the pretty buttons, he laughed. It had been so easy! Why no one ever thought about using magic in spaceships before?

“Are you ready for a new Era, Humba?” he looked at his pal, his hands closed around the ignition keys. He did a confidence check: what if he failed?

No, that was not an option.

“Yes, sir!” Humba smiled, happy. He had never wondered about it not working. Not that Humba thought much about anything other than his next meal.

Commander Peep turned the key. The whole ship started to shake. The lights turned on, everything was in the right place.

“Command tower one to Commander Peep, you are clear to launch.” the voice over the radio said. “I will commence the countdown!”

10

Peep wondered: he was a legend

9

Nobody was as great

8

He was going to be more famous than Hoppy Windy

7

Ok, maybe he was dreaming too high

6

Is that light supposed to blink so fast?

5

Nevermind, he was just nervous

4

Humba let a “phew” out. The thought of fried chicken was on his mind.

3

Peep’s palms were sweaty.

2

Yes, it was happening! Space was a new frontier! Let us conquer the moon before the gorks!

1

He pressed the red “Launch” button. The ship exploded, taking all of Nova with it.

Where the magnificent city lied, there was a giant crater, and the neighborhood Fractures were affected greatly. A zombie apocalypse began on one side, and a nuclear meltdown on the other.

That’s why you are not supposed to mix so many magic reactors with nuclear power.

Being responsible for so much destruction at once was also why Peep was the leading favorite in the “Top 100 baby names for your little Gorkson” for over two hundred years in “Gorks Chic Magazine”.
