Unfortunately Aleria is a place that I never got to visit, but there are many tales about the beauties of the myf homeland.

Myfs are by far the coolest race in Absurdia (I’m sorry magical girls). But if you try to keep one in a single place for too long, they’ll either go crazy or get sick. They are free spirits and masters of travel (also the best tour guides, if you can afford hiring one).

Myfs are usually beloved by many Fractures because they often brought their joy and pretty spells with them. They look a lot like humans, except for their vivid eyes that changes colors according to their moods. Besides, they are gender fluid, and that’s a very delicate subject for them. Avoid talking about it at all costs, unless they are the ones who engage in this topic.

It’s not uncommon to spot one wearing their casual light robes in tones of silver and blue, leather pants and boots, though is not unusual for them to adapt their clothing according to the place that they are.

They were not always homeless. There was a time, when myfs had a land to feel welcome: Aleria. They would not live there for long, because their feet wanted to walk over new places, but they would often stay there for special festivities and to recharge their strength nearby the sacred stone. It was a thirty meters tall grey rock, full of inscriptions in an ancient language that were there long before the myfs found it and glew in a dim blue light.

The stone offered an unlimited supply of magic energy to the myfs or whoever had the ability to collect it. Myfs were not possessive, so they let anyone who wanted to get near it, as long as they showed respect.

The Fracture was said to be one of the most beautiful ones in Absurdia, topping even Chewo or Samora. Green fields of grass would go as far as the eyes could see. The entrance portal to the world was always open: a gift from the myfs to the rest of the travelers around the World, leading to the huge main city.

Small myf children would play along the fields, not minding about going too far from where they were staying: they had a great sense of direction and notion of time, even without clocks. The teenagers would hang and compete among themselves near the walls of the Capital, either by jumping over obstacles, racing, or trying to create the prettiest spell. The young adults would be completing their training, getting ready to be able to travel by themselves around the Fractures.

Myf buildings were often very strange to foreigners. Tall, round towers would rise almost as high as the sacred stone, with many windows and bedrooms so visitors could stay for as long as they wanted. There were some smaller houses too, but those were their famous shops: giving away food, beverages and some of their unique cloud candy.

They were not exactly governed by any kind of political organization, but they did let one myf guide them. The myf leader existed for a very long time, and her (his) wisdom was the main reason for many stories around the Universe. She (he) was by far the most powerful of them, master in many arts of magic and almost as wise as an eldnari. The leader was also adorable, kind and great. She (he) did travel too, just like the rest of the myfs, often in disguise.

It is also common for myfs to specialize in certain fields of magic. They are not farmers, but some myfs have green fingers, and can easily rise an entire plantation of vegetables from the ground. They are not warriors, but some are capable to conjure weapons and destructive magic. They are not doctors, but some can heal a variety of wounds.

What happened to Aleria was a war crime and unjust. It started during the great Festival of the Recharge, when almost every myf in Absurdia was there gathering to find love, pray and party. By the time it ended, most myfs would have vanished from the world, and Aleria was gone forever.

If you have been reading my other stories, you probably guessed it right: gorks.

Tales of Absurdia are mostly short stories about our crazy universe. If you like this one, check out the first tale here. You can pretend that they’re fictional, but they are as real as your reality.

More about Aleria when the eldinari editor feels like doing their job.
