In game one of the doubleheader on Saturday for West Virginia, Derek Clark got the start and did not disappoint.

Clark, who made his third appearance for the Mountaineers worked a complete game going nine innings strong allowing only five runs, four of which were earned on 10 hits allowing four hits walks and tying his season high strikeouts with seven.

Clark earned his second win of the season and is now boasting a 2.84 ERA on the season.

In his previous two games pitched, Clark only went five innings in within his best outing in the five innings of work came on March 8 against BYU where he did not allow a run on one hit and did not allow any free passes while striking out seven batters along the way. His second outing of the season where he lasted five innings against Ohio State, where he was hit with a no decision, gave up three runs, two earned on seven hits while allowing only one free pass and four strikeouts.

In 19 innings this season he has a 18/5 K/BB ratio and his throwing with confidence the last couple of outings.

The senior southpaw is giving scouts a glimpse of what he can produce at the next level. If he has a couple more outings like the one against Oklahoma, fully expect his name to be thrown out in some later-rounds of the MLB Draft this summer.
