The toy my son won’t play with

A few months ago, I was talking with a co-worker about our favorite childhood toys. I had one. One toy above all of the toys I’ve ever wanted or ever had. That was this GI-Joe.

He didn’t say a word but when I showed him the toy on Google, he realized he had that exact same toy stored in his house. Well, a couple days later he gave me a huge surprise when I found my little toy sitting in my desk.

I got immediately taken back to my best childhood memories. It is weird but I remembered how I played with it when I was a kid. I spend countless hours playing with it, imagining so many adventures, so many successful missions accomplished.

I took this to my house and planned to give it a proper space, but before that happened my son bumped into it and I had a rush of mixed feelings. The boy inside me didn’t want to share it! The adult in me knew that was probably the end of it. I thought if my son borrows it, he will play with it until it’s broken. “I can’t let that happened” said to myself.

But after looking at my son’s face, I really had no choice but to give it to him. I whished my GI well and hoped it could give my son so many years of wonderful adventures just like it did to me. But to my surprise, he grabbed the toy, gave it a few spins and gave it back!. Once again a rush of mixed feelings. I felt so happy and relief, but at the same time sooooo offended! I mean this was not any toy, this was MY favorite toy! how dare he disregarding it that way. I wonder how many of us have had that experience? What is your favorite toy your son won’t play with?
