Trust God to show up, because He will if you make room for Him to

Do not be afraid; only believe.

Finding the strength to go through life’s journey

Talking Faith

The passage we would share from this piece is found in Mark 5:36. We see that Jesus’ response to the ruler was immediate after he heard the argument. As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” For a clearer rendition, let’s see how Message puts it. Jesus overheard what they were talking about and said to the leader, “Don’t listen to them; just trust me.”

Notice that Jesus was prompted to speak up to the ruler. He did not keep quiet and expect the ruler to trust him. Yes, he knew this man had faith; to a degree, he also knew that this man knew the reputation of the “Christ” before him, yet it took Jesus to remind him to trust. What did Jesus mean when he said to only believe?

That was telling the ruler to remember why they were there. Jesus was telling the ruler, I am worthy of that which I am set to do. Believe me in the reality before you. I find this interesting.

We’d probably have said something in this line to Jesus: Dear Jesus, sorry for the troubles I have caused you; you can go back to your earlier assignment. God bless you.

One striking thing about this story to me is the flow. This ruler came to Jesus and pleaded for him (Jesus) to come to lay his hands on his dying daughter. On their way to his house, a woman with a terrible blood issue met Jesus and, with faith, collected her miracle. In the middle of this, news came to the ruler that his daughter was dead and that he should not trouble the master any more. Jesus did not give him room to have any thoughts that had the potential to kill his faith. So immediately Jesus said to him, Only believe and trust me.

It will only require that you stay in the assurance of God’s words for your life and all that concerns you to come out victorious. Your case could be closed, but if you dare to believe God’s word, you will see dead bones rise back to life.

I pray that your faith abounds and grows even in the face of adversity. This too shall pass
