I think we could all say we have questioned what really causes poverty… but there are so many other issues going on in todays world that we really don’t stop and think (I mean really think) about what the world would actually look like if there was zero poverty.

If you looked at the title of my blog or my publication name I think its quite clear of what I am getting at. But we are going to dive a little deeper than just that… we are going to build goals and use those to make an action plan so we can imagine what a world with zero poverty would actually look like.

You might all think I’m just another one of those girls that posts petitions on their instagram story that never actually helps towards the issue but no, I think this is an extremely deep issue that needs to be resolved because I feel like our world who be so much better and filled with so much more equality if we could just eliminate poverty once and for all.

We live in a world where it is extremely hard to visualize how the world may look without it because poverty is something that all of us see each and every day.

For example, you may go to work everyday unsure if you will be able to pay your bills this month or worry how you are going to put food on the table for your family. Everyone who is poor is reduced to a set of stereotype. In third-world countries poverty may look a little like starvation, malnutrition, lack of medical supples, unavailability to vaccines, or people who live in houses built of mud and sticks, or even a place where there is no fresh water. We could also look at poverty as lack of education, jobs, community development, etc.

When you hear the word poverty most people just think of third world countries and the lifestyles they live but, it is so much more than just that. This has to do with lack of resources, discrimination, employment, equality and so much deeper. That is exactly why I am going to introduce to you my action plan that I think would help aid the world poverty issue(s):

Goals:

  1. Ensuring everyone has adequate water and sanitation systems
  2. Ensure that all men and women, in particular the poor and the vulnerable, have equal rights to economic resources, as well as access to basic services, ownership and control over land and other forms of property, inheritance, natural resources, appropriate new technology and financial services, including micro-finance
  3. Ensuring all children have accessibility to school

Sure this may not seem realistic to a lot of people but that is why I am urging peers how deep this issue actually is and how important it is to help out your neighbors. This would truly benefit the entire world and I am interested in living in a much friendlier world than the one we are living in now… so keep on reading if you are interested in living in a better world.
