ICYMI: Refinery29’s Unprofessional Advice on Social Media Cheating

This week Refinery29’s “Unprofessional Advice” columnist Kelsey Miller hosted a Q&A on Talkshow as a followup to her great story Is “Instagram Cheating” a Thing? Kelsey took questions from the audience about infidelity and social media. The whole Talkshow was great; here’s a quick excerpt:

Do you find that social media cheating is an extension of emotional cheating or are folks actually meeting up more often than not?

I’d say that for most people, it’s more of a virtual or emotional thing. Like a taste of cheating without it really “counting.” The thing is, many partners feel like it definitely DOES count.

And every relationship has different standards, you know? Some people think porn is cheating. Some people think kissing isn’t cheating. So it’s important to have the (awkward, uncomfortable) talk about what counts in YOUR relationship.
