Online courses you should consider taking
I can’t say I have a lot of spare time but when I do, I always try to spend it efficiently. Here are some online courses that I either have taken or planning to take in the nearest future.
The thing about online education is that it doesn’t have a schedule or a feeling of obligation and commitment so it is as flexible as it gets. You have to think of a clear end goal as otherwise, you may find yourself struggling to organise your time and dedicate the needed effort.
These are the 4 courses that I find useful. You can also check each of the three platforms for more courses that might be even more relevant for you.
Adobe Photoshop CC Essentials Training Course from Udemy
A good option for someone who is aware of the way Photoshop works but wants to learn retouching and graphic design tools specifically. What I do not like about Udemy as a platform is their marketing decisions — “95% off”s all the time instead of just putting an honest price from the very start. If this does not bother you, the courses the platform offers are mostly well-organised and worth checking out.
How to Win at Texas Hold ’Em by MIT OpenCourseWare (available on YouTube and comes with additional materials in PDF)
This is not the course you should be taking if you want a deep understanding of Texas Hold’Em but rather a nice opportunity to get acquainted with the basic mathematics of the game explained by Will Ma, who was teaching in several top US universities (and obviously has some poker experience as well). I watched this course a few years ago and still remember how great the concepts of ICM and “Cash vs Tournaments” were explained.
SEO Training Course: Building Sustainable Traffic for Business Growth by HubSpot Academy
This course is a nice free introduction to SEO. I cannot promise you that you can just stop there and start earning money but you can definitely get a general idea of the way things work and decide if you want to proceed with learning it on a more advanced level.
The Artificial Intelligence basics online course by Reaktor and the University of Helsinki, available at Elements Of AI
This one is for those who want to learn what AI is and how to start creating AI methods. Practical exercises are included in the course.
