At the time of writing, nearing the end of Q1/2024, the team is being prepared for the Paris Blockchain Week trip in early April, sponsored by the Sui Foundation.

We plan to participate in many more throughout the rest of the year, and it could benefit others if we publish the list of events (we know) to help those who are planning to join one of them, especially in Asia and Japan, where we are based.

Crypto is Back

Bitcoin is at an all-time high recently, making the crypto industry bullish again. It’s a great time to attend crypto conferences for networking and staying updated, whether you’re a developer or supporter.

Several narratives have emerged and are on the rise, including Ethereum’s restaking. Protocols like Ether.fi, Renzo, and KelpDAO enable users to restake their liquid staked ETH into the Eigenlayer protocol. We will need to closely monitor the development progress of EigenLayer itself. When will they launch the Mainnet and which projects plan to utilize Eigenlayer to secure their consensus.

Another narrative could be RWA or Real-World Asset Tokenization, which allows us access to US T-bills and real estate-backed assets to earn stable yields with lower risk.

Let’s find out more by coming to crypto conferences.

List of Crypto Conferences in 2024 in Asia & Japan

  • Hong Kong Web3 Festival — 4–9 April, hosted by Wanxiang Blockchain Labs and Hashkey Group, the crypto and VC firms with a strong presence in China.
  • Token 2049 Singapore — 18–19 September, one of premier events originally originated in Hong Kong but recently moved to Singapore. Many times, Asia’s Ethereum and other blockchain communities also host summits during the event.
  • Devcon 2024 Bangkok — 9–17 November, no intro for Devcon, as this year it comes to Asia again (the first time was in Osaka at DevCon 5 in 2019), at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, the largest exhibition hall in Thailand.

Above are conferences that you can’t miss, where you will be listening to top leaders and top developers sharing their expertise and thoughts.

Next, we’re making an exclusive list for Japan. Since 2022, crypto and Web3 in Japan have become much more popular, especially since Japan’s Prime Minister, Kishida and the government have fully supported this emerging market.

A lot of hackathons and events have sprung up seemingly out of nowhere. In Tokyo, there are currently 3 dedicated co-working spaces for Web3 and bars for Web3. Anime crypto idols reflect your favorite coins.

  • Teamz Web3/AI Summit 2024 — Tokyo, 13–14 April, we haven’t attended this series before, but considering the lineup of speakers, it might be worth joining if you’re in Tokyo during this time.
  • IVS Crypto 2024 — Kyoto, 4-6 July, one of the largest crypto conferences in Japan, held for many years already. Organized by IVS (Infinity Ventures), which has offices in many countries in Asia.
  • EDCON 2024 — Tokyo, 26–30 July, the Ethereum Development Conference. It has previously been hosted in Sydney, SF and Toronto. Recommended for visitors, as all sessions will be in English.
  • ETHTokyo 2024 — Tokyo, 23–26 August, last year hosted by the ETHGlobal with 1,000+ participants. This year will be taken care of by the local community but it has not diminished in excitement.
  • WebX 2024 — Tokyo, 28–29 August, one of the largest crypto conferences, last year PM Kishida gave a speech with 70–80% of attendees coming from abroad. It’s going to have a full schedule of international sessions.

Worth mentioning that we were the 1st place winner of the WebX Hackathon last year and consecutively received a grant from the Sui Foundation to continue development at https://legato.finance.

We hope to see you at one of the conferences we listed above. Attending these events is vital in the unique and open Web3 industry, allowing us to collaborate, share knowledge and network while exploring innovations and discussing trends. Don’t miss out on being part of this dynamic space!
