Artificial Intelligence will work with Human seamlessly eventually, why not from the beginning of a job?

Have you ever wonder what would happen if you have a team of professional HR career advisor or mentors to help you find jobs? instead of being on your own and jumping through all the hurdles yourself? It is no longer a wish or a dream, there are actually chatbots hired by tech-savvy recruiters and Human Resource departments to help you and them to do so! A typical career professional will change job at least 5 times on average throughout their careers, and in the new era that changes are so fast, the velocity of job change is increasing. A renowned headhunter has once told me that the new generations (born after the 1980s) are changing jobs every 1.6 years! With more people looking for exciting challenges, and the changes in skill sets, it is only getting more and more difficult to find the right fit and minimize the overheads of hiring.

In this post, we will share top AI enabled technology platforms that can help you find a better job, with less time, and prepare you better for the new challenges.

[Updated Dec 2018] Thanks to the popularity of the chatbot frameworks and platform, There are many new chatbots created to address the recruiting problem specifically.

Newton AI Review

Newton is a Headhunting Assistant (AI) that companies can hire to help them to find the right hires. Currently, the AI Chatbot Job Hunter is deployed on to the Facebook Messenger platform. Therefore you will need a Facebook account to take advantage and chat with Netwon. Newton is smart and can recall previous conversations with you and follow up. Newton is a personal job search assistant. I like the idea of Newton, however, I am not sure how it is adding values to me beside me talking to a machine and telling the machine to do a search that I can easily do on Indeed or Linkedin Job search.

Wade and Wendy AI Review

Wade and Wendy are actually two different chatbots. Wade is on the job seekers’ side helping you to find your next job; while Wendy is working alongside with hiring managers to find the best hire.

Wendy helps the employers to filter out candidates and help you manage the top funnel of your hiring needs. The chatbot engages candidates and screen applicants, and then rank them for you. I have a hard time finding more information about how it actually works. So I can’t comment how much of real AI technology is being used with Wendy.

On the other hand, Wade is also called “your personal AI recruiter”, but from the description, it looks like it is a chatbot that runs on Intercom, another chatbot platform. Based on these, it is difficult to understand the values Wade and Wendy add on top of Intercom.

And the funny thing is, I tried to have a conversation with Wade on the web, and when I asked a question, it takes Wade almost 2 mins to come back and engage me, and basically ask me for my email. I am not sure about others, I won’t be very engaging if I have to wait minutes to talk to you.

TextRecruit — AI Candidate communication platform Review

TextRecruit is a “Candidate and employee communication platform“, it lets job seekers apply for job openings over text message and live chat. TextRecruit also allows employers to communicate with candidates at scale. Another feature that TextRecruit differentiate themselves to other chatbot is their abilities to integrate with other ATS and Messaging structure.

The textRecruit chatbot is called Ari, and it is built on the IBM Watson infrastructure, and deployed via text message including Facebook Messengers.

Stella AI Review

Stella is another AI chatbot that helps business to recruit talents and find employees. Stella claims to integrate with major hiring platforms and able to help you extend your reach to talents.

Overall Stella is a job marketplace that tries to match job candidates with employers. Their use of chatbot is when they need AI to qualify a candidate and make sure they’re a fit. On their website, it claims to be the world’s first Shared Talent Network powered by Artificial intelligence and data sciences. They use big data technologies such as Tensorflow and big data technologies like Hadoop, Kafka and Spark.

The challenge I have with Stella is I can’t see the jobs they are looking to recruit for. Why does a “Shared Talent Network” keeps jobs hidden from the public? if you work for Stella, please let me know.

Mosaic AI Recruiting Review

Mosaic’s subtitle is “Get more interviews with Artificial intelligence”. What you can do with Mosaic.ai is to upload your resume and create a profile. And then you do have to create a “JOB” which you want to apply. Then you can check which of the keywords on the job description are missing on your resume.

You can then use the suggestions from Mosaic to improve your resume and increase your chances to stay on ATS (Application Tracking System)’s radar.

Trustify AI Review

Trustify is a new startup in the AI recruiting space. They are led by a team of experienced data engineers and AI engineers from HP, Oracle, SAP. From the website, they aim to create free services to help the candidate to increase their chances to job interviews. I am in the process to learn more about them, and I will update when I get information. To be updated…

Ideal AI Recruiting Review

Ideal is another startup in AI Recruitment. The purpose of the chatbot is to keep candidates engaged 24/7. I haven’t been able to find much information about this company, they claim to have large clients but I also heard that they won’t work with smaller companies because you are not cool enough. I do not know the backstory, it could be a specific strategy of the organization or just a lazy sales department. Who knows… Maybe their technologies can’t scale. If you work for this company, I’d like to help to clarify your brand image.

There are some AI technologies suggested on their website, including machine learning and data sciences, with traditional SQL databases. Ideal, however, has been very aggressive with their marketing, I just think their Marketing & Sales department aren’t working together.

GECKO — AI Based Video Interview Chatbot Review

Gecko is an AI-enabled Video Interviewing bot in job recruitment powered by AI and Machine learning. Speeding up the interview process will save time for recruiting. You can set up specific interview questions for the bot to ask the candidates. Candidate can use the video platform to record their interview remotely on their own time.

The AI Engine analysis emotional and sentiment based on the recording, and even compare the same answers from different candidates. I consider Gecko is more like a complete platform rather than a chatbot like the others, however, it consider some common AI activies, including

  • Human-machine communication: Spoken — Audition & speech
  • Human-machine communication: Written — Computational linguistics — incl understanding & generation; Chatbots
  • Human-machine communication: Translation
  • Computer vision: Object identification
  • Computer vision: Facial recognition
  • Computer vision: Tracking

Mya AI Review

Mya started as FirstJob, is the end-to-end lifecylce management for some reasons the founders moved on to Mya before FirstJob is on the market. Mya’s chatbot claims to use NLP for semantic parsing, named entity recognition, and multiple intent classifications. It is also Language neutral which allows the candidate to communicate using various languages or slangs.

Mya also can integrate with your current infrastructure including ATS/CRM, Messaging apps, HRMS, Job boards.

One thing I do not understand is Mya is using a separate Recruiting Software Platform Level.co to do their own hiring. Is the company not ready to eat their own dog food?

Jobpal.ai Chatbot Review

Jobpal is another AI Chatbot for recruitment. They claim their chatbot is trained by recruitment recruitors to answer specific and questions. Jobpal will use social platform to reach out to candidates.

Other functions including Job application, FAQ to handle common candidate inquiries, and re-engage canddiate at a later time.

Impress.ai AI Recruiting Review

Impress is a startup that uses Natural Language Processing (NLP) to have a conversation like other chatbots. I can’t find out more of the “deep learning”. Mostly Impress is also another recruiting platform that aims to provide end to end solutions to recruitment. Same as Gecko, it has video interviewing function, but I do not believe the Impress is as comprehensive as Gecko.
