Outrage is not enough

We are a nation of immigrants — a place where the best and the brightest come because they believe in the promise of America. But we’re not living up to that promise as long as our government is tearing families apart at our border.

Thousands of children are being ripped away from their parents and cynically used as political leverage to push an extreme agenda. Over the past week, we’ve seen the horrific images of children being treated like animals in cages, and we’ve read the incomprehensible headlines of what’s happening on our border.

A story of a breastfeeding mother having her baby torn out of her arms. Audio of children wailing after being separated from their families as Border Patrol agents crack jokes. Parents being told their children are going for a bath, but never coming back. And now there’s talk of President Trump wanting to build “tent cities” to put these kids in.

It makes me sick to my stomach.

We have an obligation to put a stop to this administration’s inhumane policies. Sign my petition calling on President Trump to take immediate action.

It’s callous, unconscionable, and downright un-American. But that’s what is happening right now in our country.

President Trump could put an end to this today. Anyone with a conscience should be outraged by what is happening on our border, but outrage alone is not enough. We need immediate action.

Bitter partisan divides and Washington politics aren’t going to cut it this time. History will judge us by our actions in this moment. I’ll keep doing everything I can in Congress to protect these children, and keep these families together. But I can’t walk this path alone.

Help me show President Trump that there’s strong support for keeping families together. Add your name right now.

Families at the center of this crisis are counting on us.
