Scott Resnick hatched a business from the UW-Madison dorms, which has grown to a multi-million dollar company. He has also served on the Madison City Council.

Starting a business is hard.

It’s managing a million little details to shape one big vision. It’s pushing yourself harder than you’ve ever pushed before. It’s deciding what your company’s goals will be and how you make that a reality. And more than anything, it’s a leap of faith.

It’s one of the most exhilarating and terrifying experiences you can have. But, innovation and enterprise are fundamentally American values and we need them to keep moving forward.

One of the reasons I’m with Tammy Baldwin is that she understands that, and fights to make start-ups and small business owners’ leaps of faith a little easier.

Recently, she introduced the “Support our Start-Ups Act” that would greatly increase the tax deductions start-ups can take — from $5,000 to $20,000. I know from my own experience that money means a lot. It could be the difference between failure and making your dream a reality.

Tammy knows that we need to do everything we can to get more start-ups going in our state. Small business, local leadership and entrepreneurship are quintessentially Wisconsin. And we need more.

Right now, Republicans in Congress are talking about cutting taxes for the wealthiest 1%. Well, I don’t support that, and Tammy doesn’t either. That’s why Tammy is pushing a tax deduction that does right by Wisconsin’s current and future business leaders.

If you’re with her, let her know by sending her a tweet at @tammybaldwin!
