I stumbled upon this Giles, Giles & Fripp (as in Robert Fripp) record, The Brondesbury Tapes, last week. The trio only ever put out one record, The Cheerful Insanity of Giles, Giles and Fripp, in 1968. I haven’t listened to that release yet, but if demos like “Plastic Pennies” are any indication, it will be a nice mix of Frippian virtuosity and pop melodies, veering often into Volkswagen-bus-jazz territory. It’s a repulsion-attraction thing.
