If you’re tired of the basic factory-set background on your MacBook, you’ve come to the right place. Today, I will demonstrate how to change your background photo so that you may begin to personalize your Mac.

Step 1: First, start by logging into your Mac. Some individuals have passwords, others are automatically logged in.

  • Once logged in, start on your desktop screen.

Step 2: At the desktop screen, navigate your way over to the tool bar and find the ‘system preferences’ application also known as ‘general’.

Step 3: Once located, click on the application with your mouse and it will bring you to this page.

Step 4: Now that you’ve opened up the system preferences application, navigate over to the icon that says ‘Desktop & Screen Saver’ and click on it with your mouse.

Step 5: Now you are given the option to use a pre-downloaded background provided by Apple, or if you look on the left of the page you’ll see the option to access your photos.

Step 6: If you use your mouse to click on the ‘photos’ tab, it’ll bring you to your personal photos on your mac and you can use those as your desktop background.

Step 7: By clicking on the desired photo, you will change your desktop background.

Step 8: To fit the background to your screen, navigate up to the bar that says “Fill Screen” and click on the arrows.

Step 9: By doing this, you are able to fit the picture to your screen as you would like. Once you set the picture to your liking, you can click out of the desktop & screen saver application and enjoy your new background!
