How to go From YouTube to GIF to FIG.

Have you ever watched a YouTube video and wished you could turn a certain part into a GIF to share on Twitter? Well now you can! I’m going to show you how you can make a GIF from a YouTube videos.

That’s not all: I will also show you how you can make this GIF backwards for free online!

The example I’m going to show you is going to be with a funny looking sneeze in a video.

1. Find a YouTube video

The first step in this process is to find a clip you’d like to make into a GIF. This could be any YouTube video so there’s a lot to choose from.

Figure out when that scene shows up and then copy the link.

2. Create the GIF with GIPHY

Giphy is a free website that anyone can use (with or without an account) to easily make and edit GIFs. When you come to the first page, click on the purple “create” button in the top right corner.

That brings you to this screen. Remember that YouTube link you copied? Paste it in the white box that says, “add any url.” Giphy also supports home videos as well as photos and pre-made GIFs.

This screen allows you to determine what clip you’d like to make into a GIF. Use the “start time” slider to find the beginning of the clip and use the “duration” one to set where your GIF will end. Once you’ve finished with that, move on with the purple, “continue to decorate” button.

Here you may choose to add some text, stickers, filters or even draw something on the GIF. Giphy offers many options for decorating your GIFs.

However, if you choose to opt out like me, finish off the GIF by uploading it to the Giphy universe.

3. Save the GIF

Once you’ve uploaded the GIF to Giphy, you now must save the completed GIF to your desktop. Do this by holding down your click on the GIF itself and then dragging it to your desktop.

4. Edit with Ezgif

Then you have to navigate to another website called Ezgif. This a GIF editor that has more options than Giphy.

First go to their GIF maker and upload the GIF you just saved to your desktop.

When you come to this screen, you’re going to want to scroll down to look at the options. For this backwards tutorial, we are going to choose the reverse option under “animation flow.” Then to have the GIF infinitely looping, choose the one below that and set the loop count to “infinity.”

5. Finally save your finished FIG

Now that you’ve set your animation flow, you may now scroll down the page to save your new GIF!
