This is an application available on any Apple product. Any live photo on your phone can instantly be transformed into a GIF.

Here is a quick, step-by-step tutorial on how to use the Motion Stills application on your Apple device featuring my cat, Taffy.

  1. Using motion stills, you can take a live photo inside the application, or choose a live photo, by turning on this feature in photos, from your camera roll.

2. Here you can turn off outside motion using the first button on the bottom left, shown first. To make this video a GIF, put it on repeat or make it go backwards by pressing the second button on the bottom left, shown second.

3. Now you have a GIF or a video out of your live photo. If you would like to add sound of text to your product, simply press the sound button to adjust volume or text button to type what you would like and get a variety of colors and fonts.

4. Lastly, share your content! Either by simply exporting your final product to your camera roll, sending the GIF, or sharing the entire video.

Tips to improve this application

  1. Include some editing tools. For example red eye fixer, so that people do not have to edit their photos before uploading them to Motion Stills.

2. Include some filters, similar to those on Instagram.

3. Allow users to adjust the speed of the GIF, more personalization, more fun!
