A moment of mindfulness

I sit quietly
And ponder these succulents;
A strange collection.

There is a mixture
Of different kinds of plants;
All of them unique.

A small succulent,
And there’s a taller one, too;
It has two long stems.

There’s a round cactus
With a dark purple flower
And visible spikes.

They live together
In a shiny, golden pot
That’s slightly tarnished.

I stop and admire
The simplicity of life;
And then I just breathe.

And I remember:
Life’s not so bad after all!
Reality check…
