What is a tanka?
It’s literally a short,
Japanese poem.
It just consists of five lines
With thirty-one syllables.
So plan your poem.
Think short, long, short, long and long.
There’s five syllables
In the first and third lines, and
Seven syllables the rest.
Five, seven and five,
Then two more lines of seven.
Tanka can be fun!
Many different topics,
So why not start writing now?
