It was a late Saturday afternoon, and Eddie found herself with nothing to read. She hopped a streetcar that dropped her near the newsroom, and she walked the rest of the way to the Velvet Trap.
The Blue Room had a couple drinking at a table, and Sam was at the bar. She left her coat and hat with him and made her way down the activity rooms’ corridor. She heard a muffled Bing Crosby singing something moody behind her as she headed for the library.
When she opened the door, she saw the room was bathed in the glow of two floor lamps. Bookcases and drapery lined the walls. Copies of famous erotic statues and paintings lent an exotic allure, and a sofa and chairs provided places to relax.
