In our SPO Spotlights, we highlight dedicated Stake Pool Operators (SPOs) from the Cardano blockchain. SPOs are the heartbeat of Cardano, integral to maintaining the network’s security and decentralization. These operators ensure the stability and reliability of the network by validating transactions and producing blocks. Their operational excellence keeps the blockchain running smoothly and securely. This week’s spotlight features GAIA Pool, an SPO that promotes the adoption of blockchain technology and works to make the world a better place.

More About GAIA Pool

GAIA is a mission-driven single stake pool located in Canada that is run by its stake pool operator Brian and founder Lisa. GAIA has been active in Cardano since 2017 and is a member of the Canadian Cardano Stake Pool Association, as well as the Cardano SPA — Single Pool Alliance. The stake pool is also part of Climate Neutral Cardano, an alliance committed to using green energy. As part of its commitment to the CNC alliance, GAIA Pool’s server infrastructure runs on 100% renewable energy via hydro and wind power. This, combined with GAIA’s other environmental efforts, makes the stake pool carbon negative. GAIA has been an active SPO for nearly 250 epochs with 99.99% uptime, thanks to their robust infrastructure setup of six distributed nodes.

GAIA Pools Mission

GAIA stake pool’s mission is to promote decentralization, educate their community, and make the world a better place. GAIA emphasizes the importance of running a single stake pool and provides educational resources to its community on Cardano basics, including staking and governance. The SPO also serves as a DRep in Cardano’s recently implemented governance system. Additionally, the Stake Pool Operator donates 50% of profits to environmental charities such as OneTreePlanted and The Ocean Cleanup, which work to heal and improve the planet’s ecosystem. To date, GAIA has donated over 16,000 ADA to these organizations, reinforcing its commitment to combating climate change and creating a sustainable future.

Delegator Rewards

GAIA has been an active Cardano Stake Pool since epoch 226, it has since produced 598 Lifetime blocks. GAIA pool has been able to offer its delegators a 3.07% Lifetime Return on Stake (ROS) and a two months ROS of 0.84%. The stake pool has generated 314K ADA for its delegators and generated 80.7K ADA in fees to support the stake pools operation and make donating to charities possible. Ecosystem participants that stake with GAIA not only earn a steady stream of ADA rewards, but also support an SPO that promotes decentralization, is carbon negative, and donates to charities that work towards healing the environment.

How to Stake to GAIA

To stake with GAIA Stake Pool you can either type GAIA into the staking section of any mobile or desktop wallet or visit the following link: Stake with GAIA — then press the Join button on the right side of the pool.pm page. You’ll then receive a dApp connection request pop up from your wallet after which you’ll need to sign a transaction to complete the delegation process.

Conclusion

GAIA Pool stands out as a dedicated and environmentally conscious Stake Pool Operator within the Cardano ecosystem. By combining technical excellence, community education, and a strong commitment to sustainability, GAIA not only reinforces the network’s decentralization but also contributes to meaningful global change. Delegating to GAIA allows participants to support a mission-driven pool that prioritizes both Cardano’s growth and the health of our planet.
