These photos are of ongoing experimentations with hand embroidery. I have recently begun sewing directly into garments (as opposed to making patches) and am very excited about the results. You can see more embroidery into apparel on the “Insect Investigation” page. I have also been using printable fabric to recreate, in great detail, an original photograph I took at the Orange County Fair (below).
The following images are of my recent investigations into working with sequins. The beetle piece was attached onto a thrifted handbag and then further embellished with glitter etc. The other photos are of a long silk panel that is an ongoing work in progress. It features Americana imagery arranged to be viewed through a critical lens.
