… And Today We’re Going to Show You Why Personal Branding is Important

Makeup and beauty products have always been an enormous business, and the Internet era makes things bigger. The growing of online fashion gurus, influencers — both macro and micro, see more in this article — meant that people could find a great amount of information shared by these users that weren’t professionals in the beauty field. Clio Zammatteo’s success started in this period of time, when she opened her YouTube channel and started doing tutorials for her followers about beauty and makeup.

Let’s Talk About ClioMakeUp

Clio Zammatteo is an Italian Influencer, YouTuber, TV hostess, Makeup Artist and Founder of the brand ClioMakeUp. After completing her studies in Italy, she moves in the U.S.A. with her husband and starts to attend the famous Make Up Designory.
At the suggestion of her husband, Clio found her YouTube channel in 2008. The channel counts now 1.268.118 subscribers and more than 260.000.000 of total visualisations. Clio started various collaborations with makeup brands, other Influencers, she collaborated in writing books, and she has now her own makeup brand, that is punctually sold out as soon as the online store is refilled.

From YouTuber to Make Up Entrepreneur: How?

  • Clio Zammatteo knows herself: the tone through every interaction she conducts never change. Yes, she’s the professional sharing with her audience her tips and tricks about makeup and beauty routine, but she positioned herself in a sort of flat — hierarchy. She allows herself to be perceived as a young woman that let you glimpse in her life while chatting about eyeshadows and cosmetic brands. She includes bloopers in her video — like when her cat takes a stroll through the desk where she’s working — and share equally picture of her products and her private family. The interactions via her social channels, both with Clio herself and her team, continues to use this friendly approach.
  • ClioMakeUp knows its audience: this is the main rule behind every brand of success. Know your audience, understand what your audience wants, and talk to your audience about what they are interested in. When she started recording video for YouTube, she was talking to women — young and more mature — that were browsing online searching for guidance in the makeup world. Using the domestic set of her own house, Clio spoke to them as if they were friends having a chat about lipstick or skincare. She owned the knowledge, she shared it with them — giving her followers the information they were searching for. She is using this approach for every interaction, and the community is growing day by day.
  • ClioMakeUp knows itself: particularly with the makeup they started recently to produce, ClioMakeUp is a brand that knows how to engage with its audience both online and in person. The general tone is always friendly and warm, there is no invitation to buy, but the proposal of makeup products easy to use, at a fair price for the quality they offer. Clio’s team know that a huge thing the customers value in general, in any field, is having high — quality products for an affordable amount of money.
  • This brand doesn’t break the trust: a significant factor that contributed to Clio’ success has been the part of her time she used to review make and beauty products, both via YouTube video or posts on her website. A quick look at the comments’ section reveals how her followers trust what she recommends, and she doesn’t, and not only because she posts a video of the switches or photo about how a mascara behaves. During the years, Clio and her team proved that their judgement isn’t biased by the notoriety of a brand or its cost. Their opinions are perceived as genuine and professionals: they talk about the product, its ingredients, the price, how to use it, and why it works, or it doesn’t. The same trust Clio’s followers therefore extended to Clio’s makeup brand. Her followers became her customers because she created the products they like more: easy to use, not expensive, and yet high — quality.
  • Its colours and font are unique: it can seem a bit obvious, but every brand must have its own selection of colours, font, and general aspects. In this case, the primary colours are white and a different bunch of pink shades. Fonts and colours are not only present on her websites and social channels, but they have been used for the packaging of the beauty items she sells as well. In a world, it’s easy to recognise the brand’s appearance.
  • Promotion: ClioMakeUp became famous through women and girls telling each other about this competent, friendly YouTuber who had started to post her videos. Selling her products didn’t work that much differently. Yes, they have a newsletter that keeps you informed, and of course, they talk about the brand on the main website. However, Clio made a video when she launched her brand, and she didn’t change the tone of her speech. She was perceived as a young woman who, after a lot of work, was finally making one of her dreams come true.

Conclusion:

As you can see — and as you can read herepersonal branding means telling to your targeted audience what your manifesto, ideas, values are and then stick to them. You must dialogue with users and potential customers, but even if the ultimate goal is to make your business grow, you don’t want to offer them a cold call sales.

Building personal branding involves giving people reasons to trust you as a strong, competent voice in the market you want to excel.

Finding the perfect audience equals seeking the people who share your ideas or need a service/product like the one you’re proposing, and letting them know what motivates you and the job you’re doing. They’re multiple ways to build a successful personal branding, and ClioMakeUp is an excellent example of how far you can go when you’re committed to your job, you have the skills, a great team, and most important you establish yourself as someone an audience find interesting and useful to follow.
