Welcome friends, to Friday and the end of another week. Suppose this is the last day of your week; congratulations. You made it! If it isn’t, I hope you’ll get a chance to rest and relax soon and celebrate your accomplishments with friends and family.

One the past couple of months, you’ve seen images from the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck in my writings. A few weeks ago, I picked up another deck. Ok, I’ve been buying a lot of decks lately. While I love the Rider-Waite-Smith, I’ve been seeking decks out, looking for different voices. I picked up a copy of the Wildwood tarot a couple of weeks ago. And I’ve been working with it almost every day since and love the deck. Today I thought I would change things up a little bit and do my usual Focus, Embrace; Release spread with the Wildwood tarot instead of the Rider-Waite-Smith. And I can’t wait to see what this deck has for us today. Let’s jump in.

Our focus card, our first card that fell out of the deck, is the Hooded Man.

In the Wildwood tarot, there are several differences from the Rider-Waite-Smith. One of them is several name changes. Here we have The Hooded Man in the Rider-Waite; this card would be the Hermit. And he is very much the same energy as the hermit. He lives a life of solitude not thrust upon him by accident or fate but by choice. He enjoys the quiet and the chance to look within for deeper understanding and guidance. We see the Hooded Man holding a lantern while walking in the snow. He also carries a tall staff as he examines a small bird. If you’re a Niche fan, you might see that the bird is also examining the man.

This card asks us to look within ourselves for answers and guidance to our questions today. We might need some time alone from the world or for the hustle and grind of our lives. Take a nature walk, or find a quiet space to relax and meditate. Take notice of the messages you receive during this time and see what your mind chooses to focus on. Focus on your innermost thoughts today and see where it takes you.

Our next card shows us something to embrace today, The Eight of Arrows — Struggle.

This card came up yesterday in my tarot thought of the day card I put on my Instagram and YouTube channels. When a card like this comes up two days in a row, it’s a message that must be heard. In this card, you’ll see another difference from the Rider-Waite-Smith deck. The suit is named Arrows. This suit is similar to the suit of Swords in the Rider-Waite deck and is connected to the element of air. Arrows often deal with our thoughts. And here we see a woman walking in the snow carrying a lantern and a tall staff. She looks very similar to the Hooded Man, except she is the opposite. He seems very much in control of himself and his surroundings. At the same time, the woman in the Eight of Arrows appears to be going through something rough and difficult. She even looks a little worried. And you can see that someone has been shooting arrows in her direction. So far, none of them have hit her. But the fact that they are there should be cause for some worry.

As our embrace card, this card asks us not to avoid the difficult today. If this does get a little rough, embrace it. Stand up to it, look it straight in the eye, and take it on. This card, while looking rather scary, tells that we got this. We can handle anything the world can throw at us. Today is the day to take charge! Embrace the difficulties and show the universe you got this!

Our last card is a card that shows us something that we can release for today. Something we can let go of. Here is the 20th card in the Major arcane from the Wildwood Tarot, The Great Bear.

The Great Bear is a powerful card and a powerful animal. She appears to be guarding the entrance to a cave. It could be her home. She could have clubs in there. And she might just be protecting her family.

This card is the very reason why I love this deck. It’s a scary card but one with a great message. This card shows us that we might have big fears and worries. Things that, if we let them, would swallow us whole and eat us alive. But often, we make these things more significant than they are. We see in the Eight of Arrows that we can handle any problems we have. Yeah, it’s not easy and often a lot of work. Sometimes we’d rather not do the work because many other things are happening. This card asks us to let go of our worries and fears. Drop them like a ton of bricks. You don’t need them. They only stop you from doing what you truly want to be doing. Today, let go of your worries and fears. besides all the build-up, the giant polar bear about to eat your face is just a teddy bear in disguise.

Thanks for reading today. If you enjoyed this reading or if this reading resonated with you, please let me know in the comments below, and also let me know what you thought of this tarot deck. I’d love to read your comments. If it didn’t resonate, consider sharing this with a friend who might need to hear this message today.

Thanks again, and have a great day!
