A reading for the coming week — Sunday, February 19th, 2023
Welcome friends. I hope you’re having a great weekend. With today’s article, I’m starting to do readings focused on the week ahead on Sundays instead of my usual daily reading. I feel like Sunday is a good day to look at what’s coming up and prepare for things to come. Let me know what you think bout this idea. Without further adieu… Let’s jump in.
Our first card, the situation card, is The World. The last card in the major arcana. This card represents the end of a long journey. The journey starts with the fool taking a path that leads through all of the previous cards in the major arcana and ends with the world. The card depicts a woman wearing only a white sash. She holds a magic wand in each hand. These wands are very similar to the magic wand held by the Magician. These wands are unlike the wands found in the suit of wands. These wands have points on either side that point up and down. Another symbol of the “As above, so below.” Praise That runs throughout the tarot. In the four corners of the cards, you’ll see a bull, a lion, an eagle, and a man. These represent four fixed zodiac signs, Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. They can also symbolize the four directions or the four winds. There is a large green wreath that circles the woman. The wreath has two red ribbons at the top and bottom, making two infinity symbols. Also, the wreath itself is an infinity symbol with no end or beginning.
The World card symbolizes mastery over things — completing a journey or a cycle. But as always, when a new cycle ends, another begins. This card shows us the completion of one thing and the beginning of something else. Depending on how you look at it, Sunday is a day that either ends a week or begins a new one. Either way, we’re transitioning from one cycle to another. From one week to the next. This card also speaks to us about the successful completion of that cycle. The woman in the card almost appears to be a dancer. One leg seems to be down, while her other leg is slightly bent. She is in motion. Perhaps she is doing a dance of celebration. The four heads in the corners are also symbols of things we have received on the journey. Things like wisdom, loyalty, courage, and strength. With every passing day, we learn more, grow more, become stronger, and more loyal to that which we connect ourselves. So this card marks the successful end of one cycle and joyously heralds the next cycle. And that it will be successful.
Our advice card is the Knight of Wands. This card has come up a few times in the past few days. When that happens for daily readings, it’s often a reminder that the world doesn’t change that fast. That things are pretty much the same from day to day. The things we were dealing with yesterday are still the things we’re dealing with today. However, a card can have different meanings depending on where it lands in a spread. In this spread, the Knight of wands lands in a spot that can give us advice about the coming week.
The knight of Wands sits on a horse with its front legs in the air. This Horse is going. Whether the knight is ready for it or not. The knight wears a yellow robe emblazoned with lizards holding a wand with sprouts coming out of it. A plume of feathers on the knight’s helmet resembles flames. Wands are connected to the element of fire.
This card tells us that things are in motion. Whether we’re ready for it or not. The yellow in this card speaks of optimism. And the wand with its sprouts speaks to us of creativity in bloom. Something is blossoming. This card tells us to be ready for what’s coming this week. Be prepared to go when the time comes. And to go into it with optimism and hope. Go all in and give it everything you got. Leave nothing on the table at the end of the week.
Our last card is our takeaway card. Something for us to think about as we go about our day today. Sometimes it’s connected to our situation from the first two cards, and sometimes it’s not. That card is the Queen of swords.
Swords are all about the intellect. And the Queen here represents the intuitive side of the mind. That part of your mind that tells you when you should trust someone. Or whether you should have cake or pie for dessert. She is a mature woman sitting on her throne. A sword is in her right hand, and her left hand is up as if speaking or giving a blessing to someone. That person is not pictured in this card, however. It leads me to think that person is us. She is talking to us or giving us something. On her Throne are symbols of an angel and a butterfly. Angels are often messengers; butterflies are a symbol of transformation. Even her crown is adorned with the symbol of the butterfly. They are indicating that she is all about transformation. The sky behind her is blue with puffy white clouds — nothing to get too worked up about. A bird is soaring in the background.
This card often refers to a person. Someone mature with excellent communication and intellectual ability. Growth and transformation seem to be a big part of this card. My feeling is that she speaks to us about that growth. That will be a big part of our week coming up. To me, growth is an essential part of our life. It’s why I started this journey of learning the tarot. To grow and evolve. To learn more about the world around me and the world in me. What does growth mean to you? How does it affect you or your life? These are the things to think about as we go about our day. I give my answer to it ignorer t spark some thoughts but dig deep into your mind today and think about growth and what it means for you.
