What messages do the tarot cards have for us?
A Daily Tarot Reading for March 3, 2023
Today’s reading starts with the situation card, the Three of Pentacles. This card shows a man standing on a bench. Maybe he’s an artisan or a craftsperson working on a piece or painting the wall. Two others stand holding a document for the crafter to see.
In this card, I see a project underway. You have two people who are managing the project and another who is doing the work. This could represent the relationship between architects and contractors. Or maybe a freelancer in conversation with a client about a project. But this card clearly shows us. That there is some work taking place and that it’s developing. Threes are all about groups coming together to do something. And the pentacles symbolize earthly things like work, money, projects, and possessions. In this card, we see three pentacles carved at the top of a pillar, which could indicate that this card represents a workplace.
Our advice card for today is the Ace of Wands. We see a large white hand from a cloud holding a large wand. The wand has some leaves sprouting from it. In the background landscape, we can see a river and a castle. But the hand and the wand dominate this card.
The Ace of Wands is an exciting card. It’s a card about creativity and action. Being the first card in the suit of wands, the ace represents not just the beginning of something but the thing that leads to the thing it becomes. Kind of like a seed. It’s not yet a tree. You would never hold an acorn in your hand and say, “look at this tree.” It’s just a seed. It has the potential to become a mighty tree if we nurture it and give it everything a tree needs to grow. And that’s what this card is about. It’s about the potential for creativity and action. And since this wand is huge, there are many possibilities here.
This relates to our first card, the Three of Pentacles, to tell us that our project has enormous potential for something creative. And the hand that gives us this potential could be the universe, our higher self, or some other spark of inspiration we might find. The hand is white to symbolize purity. S0, we know that it comes from a good place. The source of this creativity is ultimately good. We can start to feed and nurture our creativity in this project. In doing so, we’ll make this project better, and of course, we’ll also be happier in the long run.
You’ll know I always end my readings with a takeaway card if you read my daily readings. This is something to spend the day thinking about. Sometimes it’s related to the other cards; sometimes, it isn’t. Today our takeaway card is the King of Swords.
This King is serious. He holds a sword in his right hand and wears a blueish-white robe with a red cape. His throne rests on a mound of earth and is adorned with a butterfly between two crescent moons. Two more butterflies are seen just behind his head.
The swords are often about the intellect, conscious mind, and thoughts. And the kings often speak to us of fully realized things. In this case, this King talks to us about fully realized thoughts and ideas. But the sword is also a weapon. It can protect and defend us as much as it can be used to make a statement. The butterflies symbolize transformation as they start as caterpillars and become butterflies later in life. And just like the butterfly, we can transform our thoughts and ideas. This card reminds me that we can change our world if we change our minds. And that’s what our takeaway card has for use today. Spend some time today thinking about change and transformation. Think about how your thoughts are affecting you and your reality. Are they helping you or hurting you? Do you feel good about your thoughts, or must they be changed? I know this sounds like a hard thing to do, and it is. But it’s also good to think about our thoughts and whether they are serving or hindering us. If they are hindering us, then it’s time for a change. And only we can provide that change.
