TASchain at the 2018 Computing Conference: When Blockchain Meets Music
When one talks about the Chinese music market, digital rights would inevitably become a key part of the discussion.
On Sep. 22, Yiqun Wu, the founder of TASchain, will share his perspective on how blockchain can help the protection of digital rights as a special part of the ‘Alibaba Music session’ at the 2018 Computing Conference.
TASchain, as a start-up, aims at building the “trust among strangers” in the new era, and in the scenario of digital rights, it would be the trust between the copyright owner and the platform as a distributor. Seeing to the pain point of benefit distribution in the digital music industry, TASchain itself is already exploring the possibilities of the blockchain technology in digital rights.
On the other hand, as a leading provider of music streaming and download, Alibaba Music is fully aware of the importance of digital rights if it is to expand its ‘strategic territory’ against other local providers. Its ambition is clear to see when it announced its strategic cooperation with Merlin, the global digital rights agency for the world’s independent labels, earlier this year.
Obviously, Alibaba Music is aiming at implementing the technologies of AI and blockchain in protecting the digital rights of indie labels, musicians and works. But time is running out for Alibaba Music, considering that its local competitors have already launched their attempts in incorporating blockchain into the music industry.
The 2018 Computing Conference of Alibaba Cloud as one of the world’s top tech conference is generally considered a major showcase of the technological breakthrough and academic achievements. What has Alibaba Music achieved in digital rights and blockchain? And what chemistry could there be between Alibaba Music and TASchain? The answer will be unveiled at the Sept. 22th special session.
