Google Tasks is now available in the right sidebar of almost every of the Google Workspace apps (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheet, Slides, and even Drawings!)

You can access Google Tasks even on Google Drawings

But the best way to properly manage your Google Tasks on desktop is by using Tasksboard.

It is an official app of the Google Workspace Marketplace, free and available to anyone with a Google account.

Its full screen display helps you manage all your lists and tasks in one big Kanban board like shown below:

It stays synchronised in real-time with Google Workspace and works offline, so you will be able to keep tracking your tasks wherever you are.

Here is a short tutorial on how to start using Google tasks on Desktop with this brand-new application:

How to start with Google Tasks on Desktop

1 . Open Tasksboard and click on Sign-in. You might have to give it access to your tasks and drive.

2 . To create your first task, click the blue “+ Add a task” button and press the “+” or “Return” key to validate the entry.

3 . If you want to edit your task, click on the pencil icon that appears when your cursor hovers over it.

4 . Here, you can add details including when your task is due (which will integrate into your Calendar), a paragraph box for adding details, an “Insert file” icon for adding files directly from your drive, and the option to add subtasks if you feel the need to break up your task into parts.

5 . When you’ve completed a task, simply click the bubble beside it. When you do, it will briefly show a check mark, cross itself off, and then disappear off your list.

6 . To create a new list, click the blue “+ Add new list” button beside your main list named “My Tasks”.

7 . As for the tasks, simply click the “+” or “Return” key to validate the entry.

8 . If you want to edit or customize your list, click on the ellipsis icon on the right.

9 . You can also drag and drop your tasks from a list to another, or just rearrange their order in a same list.

Ultimately, Google Tasks is an effective organizational method, since it integrates seamlessly into other Google apps including Gmail and Calendar. Now, the wide choice of interfaces makes it even easier to use.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed to switch across the lists when you manage your tasks on Gmail, you might want to give Tasksboard a try.
