A customer’s process of selecting a good travel experience

When travelers are going on a vacation, the selection process is often the most tedious part of traveling. This is the process in which they plan, research, and decide the itinerary of their trip as well as the activities they do once they reach their destination. Yet travelers often delegate this part of the process by buying a full-service travel company. These companies usually offer an “all included bundle” of services where they take care of the airline schedule, choose the accommodation (or offer exclusive options), and arrange a pre-planned sightseeing schedule.
when travelers take on these full-service travel companies they are purchasing what most tourists before them have gone through. It is a process that is optimized for the travel company but not necessarily for the tourist seeking an inspiring experience. When travelers pay to delegate the crucial steps in crafting a good travel experience they increase the risk of getting something different to what they expected. In some cases they actually having an experience that is in comparison disappointing and uninspiring.

Discovery

The discovery stage occurs organically when the traveler is made aware of a destination and becomes attracted to it for vacation purposes. This may come about due to network effects from social network, or by pure coincidence of walking down the street.
The discovery sparks a process in which the traveler is inspired to know more about it. This qualification phase is critical for the traveler to make the decision to potentially visit that destination physically. Peer recommendations, and fellow travelers are good sources of first-hand information in this step of the process. Metrics and cost of living prices maybe used but just like any data these maybe subjective and open for debate. TasselVR is positioned well during this stage of the discovery phase of travel as the individual is searching for places of interest.

Making the decision

When deciding where to go next, travelers either prefer to do the research or just delegate it to a full-service travel company.
As stated above, this often results in an ordinary yet uninspiring travel experience the traveler doesn’t do their due diligence accurately. The travelers who prefer to do good research prior to embarking on the journey oftentimes are more satisfied with the experience than their counterparts who delegate such an important part of their trip. TasselVR is best positioned in this part of the process as well because the prospective traveler has a more immersive source of information about the place of interest that other media types don’t offer. The content uploaded on TasselVR are virtual representatives of real world routes along popular tourist destinations. When deciding where to go next, the research time is reduced significantly by simply checking out the virtual route from the platform.

Transit and exploration

In TasselVR we believe that we get the best travel experiences when we are outdoors. The biggest concern here are the logistics hence this is where a large portion of a travelers budget goes to. This is also the aspect of travel that we consider holds an unfair advantage in terms of capital investment. For many travelers the aspect of the trip revolving around accomodations and travel compose a majority of their budget and therefore their experience. Using TasselVR we aim to reduce that budget by encouraging the participation of locals which would encourage our customers to spend it on the research aspect before spending it on a trip that doesn’t match up to expectations. Ultimately, the aim of TasselVR is to align the expectations such that travelers get exactly what they are paying for. We believe that the aim of travel is to experience first-hand the places that has inspired others who came before.
