Want to know the best pizza in Tooting, well look no further! As part of my #SummerSoundbites series, here I take you through the best pizza joints that I’ve managed to hunt out so far. Whether it be yummy sourdough or traditional thin crust, here are my top finds:

1. Franco MancaThis sourdough Neapolitan pizza restaurant is situated in the heart of Tooting Market and is everything you could ask for in a pizzeria. The menu is short, comprising of seven pizzas, with various meat and veg specials, which change daily. There is also a selection of side salads and plates to share, like baked spicy lamb sausage with potato and baked aubergine parmigiana. There’s ample seating either downstairs or up on their balcony, which is perfect for eating delicious sourdough pizza whilst watching market life go by below.

2. Naked Loaf — This little pizzeria tucked away in the heart of Furzedown first started out in 2013 as a small neighbourhood bakery run by a Spanish family selling delicious artisan breads using hand crafting techniques. It still serves as a bakery today, but in the evening turns it trade to crafting great tasting Tuscan pizzas and other Italian favourites. Top quality dough is fired, after being topped with a load of fresh and genuine Italian ingredients. A focused menu of eight pizzas — each one, with thin bases and big fluffy crusts, is not to be missed.

3. Rose & Crown — Although strictly a pub, The Rose & Crown, which is situated on the edge of Tooting Bec Common, has had a reincarnation in the last couple of years with a swankey new refurbishment and a large pizza menu to boot. The menu ranges from fennel sausage to smoked chicken and avocado to name but a few. They also do gluten free options, along with calzone and even a build your own menu. To top it all off all pizzas are £5 up until 3pm Monday through to Friday. That’s a deal not to be beaten!

4. Pizzeria Sette Bello — Situated on Amen Corner, Pizzeria Sette Bello offers a wide range of freshly baked traditional thin crust pizzas, along with other Italian classics. Having changed name a few years back, it has now reverted back to its original name and is as popular as ever with families and locals alike. The staff are very friendly and the pizzas will not disappoint.

5. Bravi Ragazzi — So this is a bit of a rogue entry, as it’s actually located down the road in Streatham and not Tooting at all, but it would be hard to write a pizza blog without mentioning it as its such a good’un! Their menu consists of Neapolitan-style sourdough pizzas with traditional toppings, blasted in a red-hot wood-fired oven. I counted an amazing 25 different types of pizza, 3 of these being vegan, so there is most definitely something to suit everyones tastebuds, and if you can’t face the short trip to Streatham, then you can always stay home and order free delivery!

I hope you enjoyed my latest blog, I’ve certainly made myself hungry after researching all of these yummy places. Guess what’s on the menu tonight in the Taste Tooting household…

Until next time x
