Top 10 Restaurants

A celebration of all thing food and drink in Tooting. Follow me on my journey to discover all the best places that Tooting currently has to offer, along with keeping you up to date on all the exciting new openings. I’m starting off my journey with my ‘Top 10 Restaurants’, so here we go:

1.The Sea Garden & Grill — A modern British seafood restaurant inside Tooting’s covered Broadway Market. Their ever changing menu is filled with contemporary seasonal dishes, with their seafood delivered fresh daily from St. Ives in Cornwall. The cocktail menu also does not disappoint. The food and drink are top notch and the staff are super friendly and very helpful. This is a real Tooting gem!

2.Plot — A small-plates British restaurant in Tooting’s Broadway Market which focuses on locally sourced seasonal British produce. Their dishes range from North Sea cod nuggets, cured venison carpaccio to scallops with black pudding and dandelion, to name but a few. The friendly staff are very knowledgeable and happy to talk you through the menu.

3.The Little Taperia — An authentic Spanish tapas bar and restaurant on Tooting High Street. The menu is filled with your classic tapas favourites including patatas bravas with aioli, chilli garlic prawns and pan con tomate to name but a few, but my favourite dish is their grilled octopus — a must try!

4.KOI Ramen Bar — Seriously tasty Japanese noodle bar In Tooting Market, specialising in authentic Tonkotsu Ramen — a rich and creamy pork soup noodle from the Southern regions of Japan. They also do a super tasty vegetarian version, the Miso Ramen, and their gyoza dumplings are also not to be missed.

5.Vijaya Krishna — A family run authentic south Indian restaurant on Mitcham Road, with delicious freshly cooked food. The menu has every dish you could want and the flavours transport you to Kerala in an instant. Great service and a great little restaurant.

6.Franco MancaThis sourdough Neapolitan pizza restaurant is situated in the heart of Tooting Market and is everything you could ask for in a pizzeria. The menu is short, comprising of seven pizzas, with various meat and veg specials, which change daily. There is also a selection of side salads and plates to share, like baked spicy lamb sausage with potato and baked aubergine parmigiana.

7.Daddy Bao-A Taiwanese restaurant on Mitcham Road serving a variety of steamed bao buns stuffed with pork, pickles and peanut powder or beer marinated prawns, pickled mooli and spiced spring onion. Alongside those you’ll find the crunchy fried chicken, as well as their signature smacked cucumbers and golden kimchi.

8.Lahore Karahi — This no-frills, authentically delicious Pakistani restaurant on Tooting High Street is renowned among curry lovers. This long established restaurant is also a firm favourite amongst the locals with its laid back cafe style atmosphere and great food. The Lahore Karahi serves cracking Pakistani cooking at low prices where you can also BYOB, what’s not to like!

9.Tacos + Tequila — This lively taco bar in the heart of Broadway Market serves authentic Mexican tacos using fresh locally sourced ingredients. Choose from confit pork belly, ox cheek and spicy prawn to name but a few. As you would expect, the drinks menu has a heavy tequila influence, with cocktails such as Worm Salt Tequila, Spicy Patron and Basil Mezcal sure to knock your socks off. Head here for a fun party vibe and don’t forget your sombrero!

10.Unwined — Although primarily a wine bar, Unwind opens its kitchen Thursdays through to Sundays, where they invite pop-up chefs to takeover for a month-long residency. The current guest chef is Linnet’s Kitchen, who are offering dishes such as slow roasted lamb shoulder, cornish crab on toast and mushroom, thyme and shallot tart, all which pair to the month’s featured wines. A great place to drink amazing wine and eat delicious food in Tooting Market.
