The Problem With Car Travel

Conversations With My Daughter — Jilly Nines

“Daddy?”

“Yes, Jilly.”

“It’s Saturday.”

“I know honey. What do you mean?”

“I don’t have school, right?”

“Right.”

“Good.”

“Why do you ask?”

“I guess I can tell you. On the bus yesterday, Robert said that Miss Maya-Sara was going to call you and that I was going to have Saturday detention for being too loud.”

“Why would he say that?”

“Because he’s a jerk?”

“Jilly, I don’t think you want to call Robert that.”

“That’s what Jackie said he is.”

“Still, it’s not a good word to use.”

“Daddy?”

“Yes, Jilly?”

“Sometimes you say it in the car. It’s okay because the other driver can’t hear you — right?”
