Okay. So you’ve finally arrived (or are en route) to Chi-City for HR Tech 2016. Maybe you’re rummaging through your things for your business cards. Maybe you just dropped your bags in your hotel room. Maybe you’re on a break and wondering where you’ll grab din tonight. Whatever you’re doing on your phone right now, drop it to take advantage of some of the delights this windy city has to offer to its guests while you’re here growing your business.

After hitting up the Opening Night Reception on Tuesday evening, take an Uber or Lyft to the John Hancock tower, the fourth tallest building in Chicago. It’s a 15-minute ride from McCormick Place. Check out the Signature Lounge on the 96th floor; it has the best view of the city. Enjoy a drink while you’re there.

Wednesday could be a long day, depending on what you have planned at the Conference. Try breaking up the day with a walk down The Magnificent Mile, aka The Mag Mile. Careful though — it’s shopping mecca so don’t get too distracted! You’ll pass by Buckingham Fountain and The Bean. It may be a bit humid this week, so take a stroll along the picturesque waterfront to cool off.

Most Conference festivities on Thursday will wrap up by dinner time so make sure you scoot on over to Lou Malnati’s to indulge in their legendary Chicago deep-dish style pizza. You can’t go wrong with their classic sausage option. Be prepared to wait in a long line, so definitely try and get over to one of their several locations as early as you can.

Friday is the last day of the Conference, but if it’s not your last day in the city, get yourself on an afternoon boat tour. I’m sure by now you’ve had a glimpse of Chicago’s famed architecture; experience it up-close on the Chicago River navigated by a trained architectural guide. Discover the history and culture behind the city’s most striking skyscrapers.

If take-off is Saturday morning, treat yourself at Meli Cafe to something other than a continental breakfast. Have a mimosa…because, why not? You’ve had a productive week of networking and knowledge-intake…relax a little!
