How to Flow

We’re uber proud of this feature, so we want to teach you more about Flows to help you make the most of them.

What are Flows?

Flows are a series of steps delivered one at a time via Obie. They use spaced-repetition to increase knowledge retention. Create Flows on the Tasytt dashboard to automate training or to share knowledge, lessons or checklists, and then they will be deployed to your team in message-sized pieces. Obie notifies users when they’ve been assigned a new Flow, so they’ll be up-to-speed in no time. What’s handy about Flows is they offer as much structure as you’d like to give them; admins have the option to schedule when steps should be delivered, otherwise, users can work on their Flows at their pace and revisit them as often as needed. Flows can also have attachments: include URL links, Google Docs, content on Tasytt, and government forms.

Sample Use Cases

Flows are perfect for new hire checklists, to assign books to read on Tasytt, to teach an individual skill, or to delegate tasks when working on a project. Flows can include steps like “Fill out I-9 form” or “Review Sales Deck” or “Take this Quiz”. A personal favourite of ours is a Flow on puppies. Productive use of time? Um. Promoting great company culture? Oh yeah.

How do I create a Flow?

Flows are created on the Tasytt dashboard. To create a Flow, select Flows from the bottom-right menu in your dashboard. Click the Plus icon to open up the Flow editor. Use our easy drag and drop interface to add more steps to your Flow. Don’t forget to attach resources! We’ve also included an option to schedule when you would like the user to receive a notification to work on the next step. Once you’re done adding steps, assign any points to be awarded to the user upon completion of the Flow. Users can use points earned towards collecting rewards in the team Marketplace.

How do I assign a Flow?

Flows are assigned on the Tasytt dashboard. You can do so within the Flow editor itself, or you can click the menu button on the Flow card in the Flows dashboard.

How do I work on a Flow?

When you are assigned a new Flow, you will receive a notification from Obie, where you can begin the assigned Flow. You don’t even have to leave your favourite messaging platform to work on your Flow, just follow Obie’s instructions once he notifies you. Obie delivers the Flow in bite-sized pieces while you move along at your pace. If you want to work on the Flow later, or you want to call up an existing Flow, type flows to get a list of the Flows available to you.

How can I check my progress on a Flow?

Flow progress can be reviewed both with Obie and on the Tasytt dashboard. To check your progress using Obie, type flows. Obie will tell you which Flows you have Available, In Progress, and Completed. For a more detailed breakdown of each Flow, including the details of each step and how far along you are in a particular Flow, head to your Profile on the Tasytt dashboard to see your progress.

Flow Progress as Seen on the Tasytt dashboard

Protips:

*When creating a Flow, click the Preview button to see how the Flow will be presented to the assigned user in your favourite messaging platform. It’s an opportunity to put yourself in their shoes!

*Assign a Flow to a Tasytt user group so that every time a new user is added to a particular group, they’ll automatically be assigned the Flow. As an example, we use the user group, everyone, to share the Puppies flow with the whole company (queue the awe’s across the office). On a more serious note, we like to use this process when onboarding team members to a new team.

*You can work on Flows with Obie and review your completion on the Tasytt dashboard, at the same time! Chat with Obie as you work through the Flow, staying focused on the given step. Get a big picture and see a graphical representation of your progress by visiting the Progress tab in your Profile on the Tasytt dashboard.

For step-by-step instructions on creating, assigning, and reviewing Flow progress, check out our How To Guide. Feel free to send feedback via support@tasytt.com, tweet at us, or talk to us.
