Elrond is a highly scalable, fast, and secure blockchain platform for distributed apps and enterprise use cases.

Their platform addresses blockchain speed, scale, cost, and user experience, helping developers, validators, and businesses build a new internet economy. Using Tatum to build on Elrond, developers can easily generate wallets, addresses, private keys, transfer tokens, and build full-fledged dApps via SDK or REST API.

The collaboration adds another prominent blockchain technology provider to Tatum’s inventory and opens the doors for more developers to leverage the Elrond ecosystem in their apps.

Here are a few words from the CEOs of both companies regarding the partnership.

“The way the Elrond Network combines scalability with decentralization is absolutely remarkable, and we believe we can contribute to the expansion of their ecosystem by making app development even more efficient,” said Jiri Kobelka, Tatum Co-Founder and CEO.

“We have designed the Elrond Network to be an integral component of a better internet, for every developer to work with and build unstoppable applications for the new global economy. The Tatum APIs and platform can act as an accelerator for our mission of making blockchain technology accessible for everyone to build with and use,” said Beniamin Mincu, Elrond Network CEO.

Let’s talk code

So let’s move on to the main show! All of the currently available operations are in the Elrond API documentation, and we will showcase some of the main features below.

It’s also worth noting that Elrond supports virtual accounts, so anything marked “ledger” in the API documentation also works with Elrond. This includes instant, feeless transactions, fiat and virtual currency support, webhook notifications, order book functionality for crypto exchanges, and everything else that comes along with virtual accounts.

Generate EGLD wallet

Generating wallets is something you’ll want to do for any blockchain app, which is exactly why we have ready-to-go BIP44 wallets which are super secure and can be deployed in 1 API call. More about BIP44 HD wallets can be found here.

Here’s how to generate an EGLD wallet:

For a detailed breakdown of the API call, have a look here.

Get EGLD Account balance

Keeping track of your account balance after every transaction is an essential feature for users, and you can do it in one simple API call.

Here’s how to do it:

Get EGLD Transaction

The transaction API call is the foundation for whatever you are trying to build. Again, just one API call to look up a transaction by hash:

And that’s just a little taster of what you can do with Elrond using Tatum, but as you can see, you can do everything with just a few lines of code. It doesn’t get much simpler than this!

Start coding with Tatum today

If you want to start building on Elrond today, you can do everything with a free plan. The only limitation is that you can perform a maximum of 5 API requests per second (rq/s). If you start to get a bit of user traffic, you might need to upgrade to one of our paid plans.

But these give you some serious bang for your buck. For example, our entry-level paid plan is available for $9/month and gives you 200 rq/s, which is more than enough to build a blockchain app. To put that into context, for the price of a Netflix subscription, you can build full-fledged apps on enterprise-grade blockchain infrastructure without any prior experience. Pretty cool, right?

If you want to have a crack at it, here’s a quick guide on how to get started in Postman.
