Hello, Community members of TauschBloc. Today, We will talk about ‘History of Shopping Mall mobile app.

Let’s find out which data that malls want to give through the app, which functions that users want and how the apps are changing.

Announcement of Event and store information

Conventional shopping mall apps were similar with paper pamphlet. Shopping Malls have reduced paper catalogues and enhanced web and mobile catalogues, allowing customers to view shopping information in catalogues and coupon books through websites and mobile apps without visiting the shopping mall.

The mobile app also provided search for additional popular items or purchase items, as well as detailed search by price, category, and keyword.

In the past, customers visited shopping malls and checked product through the paper catalogues, but as tablet PCs and smartphones became popular, the catalogues need to be diversified. As a result, shopping malls started to think about how to deliver shopping information efficiently on mobile rather than on paper.

Integrated service that breaks offline and online boundaries and enhances convenience

While the old version was one-way information delivery, new mobile app began to value communication with its customers.

By setting up shopping mall that customers frequently visit in the app’s favorites, customers receive free parking tickets and coupons, as well as floor guides.

Shopping malls included an e-receipt feature in the app, allowing customers to view their purchases from all branches of the shopping mall in the same form as the original paper receipt, anytime, anywhere on mobile.

In particular, this e-receipt function allows customers to take online features offline. If the customers lose the receipt, they don’t need to spend much time checking the purchase for exchange or refund, and do not have to take the receipt to receive the free gift.

In addition, it reduces the concerns about leakage of personal information which was the biggest problem when discarding paper receipts and protects the environment by saving paper.

Integrated service that breaks offline and online boundaries and enhances convenience

As the shopping mall services expand, the number of APPs that need to be installed has also increased. To reduce this inconvenience, shopping malls have begun to introduce integrated apps.

Installing only one app, customers can receive a variety of events, benefits such as store information, integrated search, coupon service, giveaway, e-receipt, and personalization services.

At the same time, shopping mall apps have also begun offering AI helper services. For example, customers can use the app to make payments and earn and use points. Also customers can use the free parking coupons and make advance discount payments in the car.

Malls strengthened the omni channel services that improve the connection between online and offline shopping in consideration of the diversified shopping points of customers.

Providing personalized shopping information based on big data

The shopping mall app now offers personalized shopping information for each customer.

It analyzes customer’s purchase data in real time and provides event and promotion of the product groups which is highest purchased.

When customers visit a shopping mall, app provides real-time events and shopping information at the store. Also, it provides various services to enhance customer convenience such as cultural center class recommendation service and parking payment service.

Since shopping malls are no longer just a place of shopping, the purpose of the shopping mall app is to strengthen the various benefits such as the use of cultural centers and lounges as well as shopping information so that the mobile app becomes necessary for customers who are using offline stores

Shopping mall apps are constantly changing and renewing. At first, it simply provided shopping information, but now it has been extended to providing personalized custom data.

The existing shopping mall planned the app considering UX. But, when applied to the UI, the results were inadequate. There have been criticisms about the lack of completeness and usability of the UI compared to other social commerce apps.

In order for a shopping mall app to become essential for shopping, it needs a smart UI that fits into the smart UX strategy. Accordingly, shopping malls have recently renewed the app as a whole to increase customer satisfaction.

Today, we learned about the changes in the offline shopping mall app.
