Childcare is Only Deducted From Earned Income
In Canada, the tax rules state child care is a tax deduction for the parent reporting the lower amount of income. If one parent has $50,000 in taxable income and the other has $30,000 in income, the child care for their child must be claimed by the parent who earned $30,000.
