Therefore, E-file Form 2290 pro-rated tax reports on TaxExcise.com today and instantly get the Schedule 1 copy to your registered email.

Report and pay your taxes within the deadline soon.

As per the IRS regulations, heavy highway vehicles must have a total gross weight of 55,000 pounds or more and be estimated to travel more than 5,000 miles (7500 miles for agricultural vehicles) on public highways to qualify for Form 2290 tax payments. They are considered taxable heavy vehicles. Truckers with taxable heavy vehicles must report and pay their truck taxes using the IRS Form 2290 and get a valid Schedule 1 copy. Also, truckers with heavy vehicles that don’t belong in the taxable category must report Form 2290 for their vehicles under the tax-suspended category and get the proper Schedule 1 copy from the IRS. But they don’t have to pay taxes for their tax-suspended vehicles. Putting things in succinct, truckers with taxable and tax-suspended vehicles must file Form 2290 tax reports to the IRS in their respective categories and get the appropriate Schedule 1 copy on or before the deadline to stay in compliance with the law.

Calculate your pro-rated 2290 taxes based on the vehicle’s first used month.

Generally, a tax period starts at the beginning of July and ends next June. Truckers and trucking taxpayers should calculate their HVUT reports for the whole tax period and pay the taxes in advance during the beginning of the season (July). For the heavy vehicles that are newly purchased or first used in any month other than July, the IRS charges Form 2290 HVUT on a partial period or pro-rated basis. These taxes are calculated from the heavy vehicle’s first used month till the end of the ongoing tax period. The last date to report pro-rated truck taxes is the end of the following month of the vehicle’s first used month. Here, you must estimate your pro-rated tax returns from August 2023 to June 2024. Since the month-end date of September falls on a weekend, the deadline rolls over to the next working day, October 02, 2023. So, ensure that you report your pro-rated truck taxes and get the IRS Schedule 1 copy on time.
