Tayvallich Sustainability Jam brings people together to collaborate, create and test new ideas around sustainability in our community.

The Jam is open to everyone regardless of background, profession, or experience. All you need is an appetite to explore, discover, and create new solutions to old problems.

Over one evening and one day we’ll be working together to create and test new ideas. Join us for the whole thing, or pop in and out. Everyone is welcome!

Saturday 17th August, 6pm — 9pm
A fun and inspirational evening of talks, conversations and exploration.

You’ll start by better understanding issues of sustainability in our local communities. You will form teams around the things that matter to you.

Sunday 18th August, 10am — 4pm
A day of developing and building solutions.

Sunday is all about action. We’ll help you to quickly start to explore ways to solve the problems identified on Saturday night. We’ll then focus on creating prototypes and putting them to test to see what might really work.

Sunday 18th August, 4pm — 6pm
Sharing our ideas and thinking of the future.

On Sunday afternoon we’ll be sharing what we have developed over the weekend. We will also think about how some of these ideas might be taken forward or what we can learn from them for the future.

What to expect

“Doing not Talking” is our motto. On Saturday evening you’ll form teams to tackle issues that matter to you. We’ll help you with fun and challenging ways of thinking to move quickly from identifying a problem to trying out things that might make it better. On Sunday you’ll prototype quickly and get onto the streets to test ideas in the real world!

We’ll be focussing on sustainability; whether ecological, social or economical. We’ll give you some prompts and get you thinking about issues surrounding topics like food, transport, waste, biodiversity, fashion, energy and tourism.

Who is running this?

Does it all sound a bit mad? You’re in safe hands! Tayvallich Sustainability Jam is a collaboration between Time For Change & Make+Do

Time for Change
Time for Change are a group of young people from Argyll who want to make a difference in the face of climate change.

Make+Do Studio
Keira Anderson and Nils Aksnes are professional problem solvers. As designers and design educators, between them they have over 15 years experience helping people to develop creative solutions that really meet people’s needs.

Where and when?

Tayvallich Sustainability Jam will take place at Tayvallich Village Hall from the evening of Saturday 17th August until the evening of Sunday 18th August. Pop along just for an evening or throw yourself into the action and join us all day on Sunday for the main Jam too.

Do I need a ticket?

No, just show up on the night/day/whenever you can. We suggest a £5 donation on the door. All donations will contribute to the cost of venue, food, drinks and materials for the event. Any profit will be donated to Time for Change to support their ongoing programme of events in the local area.

What is a Jam?

We’ve borrowed the bare-bones of this event from the wonderful Global Service Jam. Find out more about what that is here: http://globaljams.org/about

Are you interested in sponsoring our event?
The Jam has a budget of zero and a staff of no-one. We are looking for sponsorship-in-kind for some of the things that will help to keep our jammers going. This might include printing, coffee, beer, food, snacks and craft supplies. Sponsors and their logos will be included in our ongoing communications and thanked/praised/revered throughout the event.
