Congressman Charlie Crist To Speak at Pinellas March For Our Lives Event

St. Petersburg, FL — Organizers for the March For Our Lives — Pinellas County event announced in a FaceBook post Thursday that Rep. Charlie Crist will be one of the rally’s speakers at Poynter Park on Saturday March 24th. Crist will be joined by members of the Dream Defenders, a Florida-based human rights organization, and several other to-be-announced guests.

Crist, who represents Florida’s 13th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, has recently expressed his frustration with the lack of action on potential gun control initiatives on Capitol Hill telling a group of students, administrators and law enforcement officials, “I don’t really understand why common sense ideas can’t be brought forward, or even discussed on the floor,” at an engagement at Gibbs High School in South St. Petersburg last week.

The Congressman has also voiced his support for the burgeoning youth-led gun control movement and has been using his official social media accounts to encourage students who have been organizing in Florida and nationwide.

March For Our Lives — Pinellas County organizers also announced the creation of a fundraiser through GoFundMe with proceeds going to pay for expenses related to the March 24th rally. Additionally, Starbucks and Chick-fil-A were confirmed as on-site food and beverage vendors.
