March 4 Trump Events To Be Held Around Florida On Saturday
Around the state of Florida on Saturday March 4th, supporters of Donald J. Trump will be taking to the streets in events conceived to show support for the 45th President of the United States who in a tweet on February 25th suggested that the millions of people who voted for him should have their own rally.
Like the Women’s March held on January 17th, a main event will be held on the Mall in Washington, DC. starting at noon with other rallies and marches being staged in cities throughout the country. The official March 4 Trump website lists six marches as happening in Florida.
Cities in Florida expected to hold events are Cape Coral, Miami, Orlando, Palm Beach, Sarasota and Tallahassee. A Facebook Event page for an event in Tampa has been set up by March 4 Trump National Coordinator Corinne Braun but it is not listed on the March 4 Trump site and does not have a location given on the page.
The “About” section on the March 4 Trump website goes into further detail about the intent behind the marches:
“A seditious fringe has resolved to sabotage this restored purpose. An insidious propaganda apparatus intends on further shredding the truth. Our cities are being assailed, our police are under attack, and our livelihoods are being given away. From radical Islamic terrorism to our deliberately undermined military, the challenges posed from without are just as dangerous.
But as Thomas Aquinas said, ‘If the highest aim of a captain were to preserve his ship, he would keep it in port forever.’
President Trump has thankfully set a new course, and no matter your race, creed, color, gender, orientation, age, or anything else traitors exploit to divide, We The People are one. Come show your support for him, each other, and our country right in the heart of our capital.”
Social media posts on March 4 Trump FaceBook Event pages have expressed concern about possible confrontations with protesters. On the page for the march in Tallahassee several attendees have posted a photo of a post on Reddit which calls on members of the r/Anarchism subreddit to try and disrupt events around the country.
Indeed there are protesters expected at several of the rallies including an anti-facsist group who are planning a “Confront the March 4 Trump” event at the location of the Palm Beach rally at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
Additionally, a February 22nd post on It’s Going Down calls on “antifascists, anarchists, and anti-authoritarians everywhere to resist what is sure to be an open display of racism and misogyny” at March 4 Trump events.
Event organizers have been hindered by fake event pages being set up by March 4 Trump opponents and erroneous information being spread on social media. The March 4 Trump official Twitter account also seemed to indicate that several pages may have been hacked earlier this week.
A Go Fund Me page has been set up by organizers of the national march to help pay for expenses with a goal dollar amount of $10,000 and singer Joy Villa who came to the Grammy Awards in a Trump-inspired “Make America Great Again” dress, has also been announced by organizers as a guest speaker at the Washington march.
As of late Tuesday night the FaceBook Event page for the Washington DC march had over 200 “going” and 425 “interested”, while the Orlando march which is selling bus tickets to the event at Lake Eola Park, had almost as many confirmations at 150. The Palm Beach rally currently exceeds both and has nearly 400.
