The organizers behind the April 22nd March For Science in St. Petersburg are looking for help in a variety of areas to help pull off the event successfully. The march which will coincide with Earth Day, is still early in the planning stages as organizers continue to work with the City of St. Petersburg to try and acquire a road closure permit.

A Google Doc has been created where potential volunteers can sign up and give feedback and recommendations to organizers. Teams and roles with need are: Operations, Recruiting, Digital, Partnerships, Communications, Safety, Stage, Speakers and Volunteers.

A post on the march’s FaceBook Event page summarizes the purpose of the planned event which will occur in solidarity with a national march in Washington, DC and those in other cities around the country:

The March for Science is a celebration of our passion for science and a call to support and safeguard the scientific community. Recent policy changes have caused heightened worry among scientists, and the incredible and immediate outpouring of support has made clear that these concerns are also shared by hundreds of thousands of people around the world. The politicization of science, which has given policymakers permission to reject overwhelming evidence, is a critical and urgent matter. It is time for people who support scientific research and evidence-based policies to take a public stand and be counted.

An EventBrite form has been created for the march where attendees can RSVP and a FaceBook page and corresponding Event page are also available for interested parties to obtain further information and interact with march organizers. Other ways to connect and receive updates are:

Finally, t-shirts are available for purchase in seven adult unisex and five youth sizes. Available in both black and white, the t-shirts cost $21.99 and will be on sale until March 30th.
