Summer at the Tech Incubator

While everyone takes a breath and relaxes now that finals are over, the team at the tech incubator is in full blast as we prepare for the summer and our summer activities.

From developing food applications, to coding and cybersecurity classes the incubator is looking to have it’s most productive summer so far. Let’s take a look at some of the activities our students have planned.

June 6th: Our summer kicks off with our cybersecurity course, ‘The Threat Within’, which features a 10 week, online and in person classes, based on the curriculum developed by iQ4 / CWA (Cybersecurity Workforce Alliance), and delivered through facilitators from the college and a group of mentors from the industry. June 11, 12 and 13th: Learning to Code, a three part class hosted by two members of our incubator, will offer students an overview of the fundamentals of coding in JavaScript, HTML & CSS and Python. The classes will be taking place from 1:00pm-3:00pm on each day in Powdermaker 206. The registration is now closed. More sessions will be scheduled in the summer.

June (11, 12, 14), (18, 19, 21) and (25, 26, 28): We are happy to offer the iOS Mobile App Development 101 class again to all QC students and the general public. These classes will run for three days from 4:00PM to 5:30PM each day. For more information and register:

June 7 to 29th: We are offering another mobile development class: “Learning React and React Native to Build Mobile Apps”. This class is currently sold out. More sessions may be scheduled later.

June 7th: We are starting a new user group that will focus on Tech Interview Preparations. The group will meet at the Tech Incubator on Thursdays from 6pm to 8pm. You can register via this link: <<<click here>>>

June 15th: QC visits Microsoft, TIQC in conjunction with QC Women in Tech will be hosting a visit to the Microsoft store in the city from 12:00pm- 2:00pm. The visit will feature Microsoft virtual studio, Microsoft Office and LinkedIn workshops for students completely free of charge. To register, please use: bit.ly/QCMicrosoft

June-July: Our crew at the tech incubator kicks off their nine week featurette of MLH localhost events. From ‘Hacking Alexa’ to ‘Building your own Website’ these workshops will run for two hours each and will feature food and swag directly from MLH. No coding experience necessary!
