Pava’s original vision for The Hatchery logo was a lightbulb coming out of an egg. Our fantastic design team came up with this much better version — shoutout to Christina Kim!

When we founded TCO Labs, we always knew that we would end up starting an incubation program for Hopkins’ student entrepreneurs. It was one of those big end goals that we were going to spend an entire year planning out, and then formally launching with a giant shebang.

As always in entrepreneurship, things didn’t go as planned. Last semester, we had so many students reaching out to us for help on their ventures that we decided to launch our incubation program with nary a plan in sight. We took on 8 student ventures in the first “pilot cohort” of The Hatchery Incubator.

This semester, we are please to announce the official launch of The Hatchery, the first ever incubator for student ventures at Johns Hopkins University. The Hatchery provides student entrepreneurs with mentorship from experienced students and industry professionals, education on the various aspects of early stage venture formation, and access to legal, funding, and business resources.

Our Spring 2018 cohort consists of 12 ventures working on everything from medical devices to nonprofits. If you wanted to meet the teams in person, their Demo Day is April 8th at our Hatch 2018 Innovation Conference.
