Women Entrepreneurs of Baltimore Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating and fostering economic independence for women, specifically in Baltimore City, through entrepreneurship. It was created after various national and global studies around 1989 began suggesting micro-enterprise development to be one of the most effective strategies for helping people rise into better economic conditions. Therefore, this organization has worked to connect women with the will to improve their lives through business ownership but lack of access to affordable business skills training and coaching. Thus, the original founding group of women came together and formed this organization for other women like themselves.

Ways in which they complete their mission is through courses and modules that provide vital information about the business world, as well as training in starting and running a business. Some of these programs include:

Small Biz 101
This program provides an overview of the rewards and demands of starting and operating a small business, including the risks and time commitments, in less than two hours.

Right Start
An entrepreneurial readiness course that assists you with refining and assessing the feasibility of your business idea.

However, not only does this program provide programs and resources to people looking to start a business, but also for those looking to grow their business and take it to the next level. Some of these programs include:

Ready to Write
Takes current and aspiring business owners through a detailed process to create and sustain businesses.

WAKE UP YOUR BUSINESS with WEB
Includes programs and events to find new markets, focus your strategies, revitalize revenues and ramp up your business.

Baltimore is not the only city with entrepreneurial resources, and such resources are not limited to a specific group of people, such as women in this case. Many cities have spin-offs and similar programs for anyone and everyone interested; all it takes is a quick google search and a desire to put yourself out there. Similar programs in other locations include:

NYCEDC in New York City
Youth Cities in Boston

And there are countless others. So whether you’re looking to start up your own business or grow it, Baltimore, along with many other cities and locations, have all the resources you need through the Women Entrepreneurs of Baltimore and other similar programs.
