Battle of the Venture Capitalists: Contrary Capital & Dorm Room Fund are both recruiting at JHU!

1. Contrary Capital: Hopkins-Based Partner

Contrary Capital, a university-focused venture capital firm backed by the founders of Facebook, Tesla, Reddit and other top entrepreneurs, is recruiting partners at Hopkins! Venture Partners act as local venture capitalists, sourcing companies coming out of JHU and other universities for investment.

In addition to the Venture Partner position at Hopkins, Contrary is also recruiting Engineering, Design, and Marketing Partners. Learn more in their registration post and apply by September 20th for the JHU-based positions.

2. Dorm Room Fund: Inaugural Baltimore Partner

Dorm Room Fund, a student-run venture capital fund backed by First Round Capital, is looking to recruit their inaugural Baltimore partner. Students from any Baltimore-based university are encouraged to apply online and attend the in-person information session on Saturday, September 8th at 11am in Malone Hall 228 on the JHU Homewood Campus. Lunch will be provided. Interested students should apply as soon as possible; select candidates will be invited to attend coffee chats on Sunday, September 9th.

3. ForagerOne: Graphic & UI/UX Designers

ForagerOne, the go-to resource for finding research positions on campus, is recruiting! They are currently looking for both Graphic Designers and UI/UX Designers. To apply, email team@foragerone.com!

4. Skillabl Campus Ambassador

Skillabl is a high-growth tech startup expanding across universities this fall. We’re hiring a select group of social, ambitious seniors and juniors at Johns Hopkins University to participate in a paid, on-campus, fall internship with our core team.

What You’ll Do:
● Work in a tight knit team to design our student expansion strategy at Johns Hopkins University.
● Spearhead our on campus marketing efforts to get students signed up for Skillabl
● Broker and manage partnerships with key organizations and university departments.
● Work on additional projects to ensure a stellar expansion, including helping grow campus teams and analyzing data to improve outreach strategies.

5. Student Entrepreneurs: The Hatchery Incubator

Applications for the Fall 2018 Cohort of The Hatchery, the student venture incubator at Johns Hopkins, are open! Each semester, The Hatchery works with 10–15 student-run startups, nonprofits, and small businesses, providing them education, mentorship, and resources to grow their ventures.

Student teams get to work one-on-one with Professional Mentors, have exclusive access to The Hatchery Elevator Pitch Competition and Demo Day, and attend a variety of educational and social cohort events throughout the semester. Plus, they get exclusive connections to resources for student entrepreneurs and beyond.

6. Campus Positions: FastForward U Campus Ambassador

FastForward U (FFU) is seeking to hire multiple JHU full-time students in order to help support our mission of promoting entrepreneurship and innovation among students at Johns Hopkins. As we continue to scale up this program, having students in this role will be essential to growing and promoting the resources offered by FFU. Interested students should have a passion for entrepreneurship, experience with event execution, be open to learning new skills, and flexible with the types of tasks they carry out. Experience as an entrepreneur is not required.
