#activateBOS: Liquor Licensing Recap for 4.20.16 & 4.21.16

Happy Friday Everyone!

Wanted to give you all a quick update on conversations in this week’s liquor licensing hearings.

Be reminded that liquor licensing hearings take place every week on Wednesday and Thursday mornings at 10am on the 8th Floor of Boston City Hall in Room 809a. Both hearings are open to the public. On Wednesdays public testimony for applications on that week’s hearing list can be given. On Thursday, the board reviews all applications and votes on Wednesday’s hearing list, one day applications and pulls ‘old business’ to review.

Here are the transfers for the week of 4.20.16 as as well as ‘old business’ that the board reviewed.

No new license applications appeared before the board this week. However, two transfer requests and an application for a Farmer Brewery Pouring license were on the week’s agenda.

One piece of old business was pulled on 4.21.16 that is relevant to the distribution of the 2014 legislation. (See details below)

Poe’s Pub, Inc. at 782 Tremont Street in Roxbury, MA 02119 (License #: LB-99708) Holder of a Common Victualler 7 day Wines, Malt Beverages w/Liqueur License has petitioned to transfer the licensed business from the above To: Bey Group, LLC. dba MIDA (at the same location).

On 4.21.16 the city board granted the request to transfer the license from Poe’s Pub to MIDA.

Farandole, LLC located at 175 Massachusetts Ave Boston 02115 (License #: LB-99558) Holder of a Common Victualler 7 Day Wines and Malt Beverages License has petitioned to transfer the license and location from the above — to: RKRG Corp dba Holly Crab at 1098 Commonwealth Ave. Boston, MA 02446.

On 4.21.16 the city board granted the request to transfer the license from Farandole to Holly Crab.

Dorchester Beer Holding LLC dba Dorchester Brewing Company located at 1250 Mass Ave. Dorchester 02125 applied for a Framer Brewery Pouring License to be exercised at the above address.

La Rana Rossa LLC dba La Rana Rossa located at 154 Green Street in Jamaica Plain was pulled as old business. La Rana Rossa appeared before the board on 3.23.16 regarding an application for a common victualler 7 day malt and wine license. The board deferred their vote because at that time no licenses were available. On 4.21.16 the board granted La Rana Rossa a beer and wine license stating a been and wine license had become available upon the state awarding an unrestricted and transferable full liquor license from the 2014 legislation returning the restaurant’s previously owned beer & wine license back to the state for distribution. The restaurant returning the license was not noted.

According to our records of the 10 new nonrestricted and transferable licenses of the 2014 legislation that were granted back in February, 5 of those licenses have been granted by the ABCC and as a result 5 beer and wine licenses have been returned back to the state.

This has allowed the city board to grant these 5 beer and wine licenses to: Scopa, Theo’s Cozy Corner, & Ben Cotto in the North End, Minina Cafe in Dorcherster; and La Rana Rossa in Jamaica Plain.

Have a great weekend everyone!
