#activateBOS: Recap of Liquor Licenses for the week of 8.10.16 (Hearing 8.10.16 & 8.11.16)

New Business:

On Wednesday, 8.10.16, Dedanann,Inc., dba St. James Gate, located at 5 McBride St, Jamaica Plain MA 02130, holder of a C.V 7 Day All Alcholic Beverages License, petitioned to transfer the license and location to Lola 42 Restaurant, LLC dba Lola located at 22 Liberty Drive, Boston MA, 02210 (located in the reinvigorated, popular Waterfront area). Lola 42’s new location will operate from 11:00am — 2:00am and will include a seasonal patio. On Thursday, 8.11.16, the board approved their request.

Capital Green Corporation dba Kriola Bar & Restaurant, located at 33 Hancock St, Dorchester MA, 02125, applied for a Common Victualler 7 Day All Alcohol License. However, their application was withdrawn for unknown reasons.

Hong Ze Restaurant, Inc., located at 19 Hudson St, Boston MA, 02111 & holder of a Restricted C.V. 7 Day Wines and Malt Beverages License, petitioned to transfer 55% of the stock of the corporation to a partner (names were not disclosed). They also petitioned for a new officer/director of the corporation and a change of manager. The board requested more time to review the petition, citing a need to review the laws surrounding stock transfer- the proposed 55% was higher than normal. The transfer of 55% of stock, the petition for a new officer/ director and a change of manager were granted by the board on Thursday, 8.11.16. The board noted that the transfer was between existing partners and that they have granted transfer of stock to restricted license holders in the past.

Epicenter plans on reaching out to Kriola Bar & Restaurant in order to ascertain the reason for their application withdrawal. We also be looking into laws around transfer of stock of Restricted Licenses. Although the board did grant the transfer of stock for Hong Ze Restaurant, Inc., transparency is always needed when it comes to regulations to make sure that standards are fixed and not buoyant.

Old Business

No new relevant business was pulled for review.

As noted in weeks past, this there is an amendment to language that was put before the state to include Boston in the Governor’s previous bill to lift the cap on the number of liquor licenses available to perspective restaurant owners in the state.

We encourage all of you to reach out to your city and state reps in order to encourage them to vote to lift the cap on the regulatory number of licenses within the city.
