Boston is filled to the brim with extremely talented designers, models & much more- Boston Fashion Week is the perfect time of year to celebrate all of the beauty in our city! Since there’re only a few days left of BFW, we wanted to put together a list of our favorite events going down for the rest of the week, including a KREYOL Soiree by IAmKreyol, an alumn of our Accelerator program for start up businesses. Another alumn, 19th Amendment, is having an event on Saturday as well! Keep reading to see all the places you definitely need to be if you love fashion & live in Boston!

Tuesday, September 27th

Look of Local Fashion Show
Hosted by Cambridge Local First

“The second annual Look of Local will take place on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from 6–9PM at the Garment District at 200 Broadway in Kendall. Last year, over 100 Cantabrigians joined us for an amazing evening of food, fun and fashion at Workbar Cambridge, sponsored by Eastern Bank.

This year’s event will once again feature a fashion show with clothes and accessories from local vendors. We will also have a vendor fair, where guests can peruse and purchase items from the night’s show as well as other goods. With music by a local DJ and complimentary food and drink, it is sure to be a great night.

Cambridge Local First is a 501c3 (pending) non-profit organization made up of over 300 businesses and 1000 community members, working together to improve the local economy and strengthen the Cambridge community.”

GlamSlam

“GlamSlam #FashionStories. Similar to a poetry slam, GlamSlam will feature 5-minute stories from inside the fashion world. Hear stories from photographers, writers, designers, stylists and more, as they tell their tales of successes and calamities. Moderated by Jay Calderin, founder of Boston Fashion Week. It will surely be an entertaining event!”

Epicenter’s Fashion Accessibility Project Charette

Hosted by Epicenter Community & the Museum of Fine Arts Boston

“Epicenter Community, staying true to our mission to reduce silos through culture, is in the unique position to make the Fashion Accessibility Project an innovative ADA cultural celebration in any city in America, placing a spotlight on Boston for culture and inclusion.

Recognizing exlusion ofter results more from ignorance and less from choice, this event crafts and intnerional conversation between people with disabilities and designers around inclusion and fashion.”

Registration for the event is closed but it is only a precusor to our Fashion Accesibility Project coming up soon next year! Models with disabailities will team up with designers to create beautiful fashion that is accessible to the disability community!

“Please join the Nichols House Museum in welcoming fashion designer Luke Aaron who will transform the museum into a living art space. Set against the backdrop of turn of the century elegance, each of the Nichols House rooms will be transposed into living exhibits featuring live models in Aaron’s contemporary garments spanning a diverse range of genres and textiles.

Design on the Hill is a series of events exploring the intersection of art, history & personal style through creative collaborations between Beacon Hill businesses and organizations.”

Takeiya’s designs are inspired by her love for the simple beauty in the art of classic cinema, performing art, and nature. Her modestly elegant women’s clothing is a combination of vintage styled clothing, with a touch of modern trends. Five Crows is a local artist owned store, featuring glass art, paintings, sculpture, hand carving, jewelry, clothing and more. This artist owned store is an open gallery of handmade items, by a community of artists. Visitors will be able to enjoy light refreshments, and wine as they watch the fashion show, within the gallery of beautiful hand made art pieces.”

“Nineteenth Amendment (connecting independent fashion designers, with style conscious shoppers), Boston Artist Collective, and Liquid Art House end Boston Fashion Week and kick off ArtWeek Boston with “Work In Progress.” This event is a celebration of fashion, art, music and all forms of creative self-expression. Guests can meet Nineteenth Amendment designers and shop their collections and collaborate on a live mural with Chicago artist Ian Lantz. Light appetizers by L.A.H. Executive Chef Johnny Sheehan, music by DJ Denis Kotech and a chance to meet designers Bohn Jsell, Graciela Rivas, and Meghan Hughes from Nineteenth Amendment.”
