Film Jobs Advocacy Update by MALC • June 27, 2016 • Issues, News

During the current two-year legislative session, the Mass Production Coalition (MPC) has worked tirelessly to protect the state’s important Film & Television Incentive Program. Bills and budget amendments have been filed to repeal or weaken it. The MPC has fought and defeated them with a unified creative sector front that has included:

• 2 Public Committee Hearings
• 2 Advocacy Days
• Informational Campaigns
• Thousands of emails, letters, and postcards sent to the State House

The MPC has been extremely effective. In addition to defeating all bills aimed at the Film & Television Incentive Program, the group prevented any changes to it from even being proposed in the House and Senate budgets for Fiscal Year 2017.

MALC stands with the MPC and thanks every group and individual who added their voice to this important fight. We have all been heard by our elected officials. Yet, we must remain vigilant.

The current formal legislative voting session is open until July 31. There is still time for opponents of Film & Television Incentive Program to introduce amendments aimed at its destruction. During the next few weeks, House Bill 4413, an Economic Stimulus Bill, will be debated. This would be an opportunity for anti-film bills to be introduced.
